After entertaining several players for tryouts this weekend, the Hawks decided to keep one on board. Kevin Brown of UCLA, a 6-2, 290, DT. In order to make room the team released DT Kelly Tavalou.
Brown is pretty solid player. I have had a chance to watch several UCLA games in recent time. He seems to get good pressure from the inside. He will be a long shot to make the Hawks, but he will be a good candidate for the practice squad. He will add some depth to the 3-tech tackles. With Rocky Bernard in the last year of his contract, the team will likely be looking at players in the mold of Brown throughout the season.
No word yet on who else the team may keep, but they released Omawale Dada over the weekend, so they should have an open spot. END

Seahawks Give Reed Tryout
by: Michael Steffes
As part of the upcoming minicamp, the Seahawks are giving several players tryouts to determine if they are interested in signing them.
One of these players is Desmond Reed. Some you may remember I spent some time with Desmond's father and uncle at USC Pro Day. Reed was a prized running back recruit who suffered several knee injuries and returned to find a lot of competition at his spot. Rather than transfer, he stayed and continued to battle for time. By all accounts he is a good kid who just couldn't catch a break. Best of luck Dez!
The other players receiving tryouts are WR P.K. Sam, WR Corey Williams, DT Kevin Brown, G Matt Alfred, and T Zach Wasielewski. Best of luck to you gentlemen as well. Tryout information was first reported by Clare at the PI. END

Seahawks Interested in Eskimo???
Yes they are. An Edmonton Eskimo of the CFL. This article by Jonathan Huntington of the Edmonton Sun says that the Seahawks are showing interest in Eskimo's long snapper, Taylor Inglis. Inglis is in high demand in the CFL, however the Hawks haven't yet made him an offer.
I say follow your dreams kid. Expectations for long snappers aren't real high around here anymore.
Anyway, this probably ends my dream of a first round long snapper (kidding!!), but hey at least he isn't a former Falcon...that I know about. END
