My Pick Is In

by: Michael Steffes

If you have been following the MVN BLogger Mock Draft, I thought I would let you know that my pick is in. I am sure it will be posted soon. I woke up this morning on the clock. If only I could have woken up and the Seahawks were really on the clock, that would have been something!

In the end, really, there just wasn't much debate in my mind who to pick. It is the player the Seahawks have probably been eying for months. Welcome home Jonathan! May your career here be long and special.

Here is a interesting take on Jonathan Stewart's draft stock, done by Pro Football Weekly. END Read More!

Big Surprise in Blogger Mock

by: Michael Steffes

Saturday Morning must have made Dan Synder a little crazy, or at least the bloggers who follow him.

With the 21st pick, in the MVN BLOGGER MOCK DRAFT, the Skins have selected Trevor Laws.

Now that is something I haven't considered, that he would be off the board by the time the Hawks pick. This qualifies as this mock's first big surprise.

If you have been following, I will be making the pick for the Hawks. There is a complete list of picks in this post right here. Read More!

Go Ahead and Mock Me Now

by: Michael Steffes

Through rain, through sleet, through snow, I deliever my Friday mock draft. I must pat myself on the back for this one. Despite emergency dental work yesterday, and the subsequent "foggy period", I managed to throw together the third version of the Seahawk Addicts Mock Draft. You can decided... did the laughing gas make me silly, or maybe more sane. I have made some changes(highlighted in yellow). I think many of you will like them. I am not so convinced. But, hey, this is a mock draft, right. Next weekend, we find out what Timmy will do. For now, you get three full rounds of what I think. To perfectly honest, if you are looking at any other teams, I can no longer vouch for accuracy, just that the player is at a position that fills a need. When is the draft already?

I. Can't. Wait. Any. Longer.

Without further ado....MOCK DRAFT VERSION 3

If you missed them and you want to see the evolution, here is....Version 1....Version 2

And Folks...Please remember to take a moment and support the site. Just checking out a few sponsors daily would really help me continue to do fun things like giving away jersey's and what not. Also, I promise, I will find some one to "take care" of Tony Siragusa for all of you. END Read More!

NFL.COM Video Mock Draft

by: Michael Steffes

Over the weekend, NFL Network, posted the video for the Seahawks draft pick for their video mock draft. Seriously though, how many mocks do they have over there? Thanks to those who sent me the link.

Anyway, for this one, they have storied beat reporter from the PI, Clare Farnsworth making the pick. Here is the video. Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive list of who was picked, that I could find and I wasn't in the mood to watch 25 NFLN video clips this morning. Either way, this is a solid pick by Clare and a distinct possibility for the Hawks.

Also, if you missed my earlier mention. I am participating in a similar type mock draft for MVN. No video, unfortunately, but you can thank me later for that. Anyway, if you want to follow the draft, being done by the writers on that site for each team, here is the link. Don't expect me to be on the clock till mid-week at best. END Read More!

Publishing Notes

by: Michael Steffes

Just to let all of you know, I have got some stuff going on over at The Power of 12 site. For those of you who are interested, I just posted the second part of my draft preview. There is a chance some could find it controversial. However, if you hang out here, you guys and gals get first crack at most of my view points. Anyway, check it out if you get a moment.

Also, MVN, the host of that site, invited me to be the representative in their Blogger Mock Draft. It has just started, and I suspect it will move fairly slow, however if you want to follow along. Here is the link. Of course, I will be soliciting your opinions when the time comes.

I hope all of you are having a lovely weekend. I hear the weather in the great Northwest has made a turn for the best. The thermometers hit 90 here today. If is anything like that tomorrow, don't expect many posts! END Read More!

Are You Mocking Me?

by: Michael Steffes

As I suspected ahead of time, there has been quite a reaction about my selection of Fred Davis for the Hawks in the Seahawk Addicts second mock. Many of you made the case for several different tight ends. That is totally fair. As I have said since seeing Davis at his pro day, I am not really sure. Mainly the reason I am sticking with him is because he was the guy I liked from day one. What can I say, I'm loyal to a fault I guess.

Anyway, I would be doing Fred a disservice if I didn't point this out. I have seen several of the blogs I check daily for news link to a mock draft today. It is the first mock done by Goose Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News. Kent Summers who covers the Cards said Gosselin is one of the most respected guys around . Matt Mosley called this the best mock not done by ESPN, but he says he is required by contract to label it that way. So why I am honking this mock so much? Well check it out.

Gosselin says he uses a network of scouts to put together his board. In his mock, Fred Davis is picked before the Hawks' pick even comes up. Also, he has Keith Rivers at 5, which many will say is too high. Only time will tell, but he looked like a star in the making to me. If they do nothing else, the picks in this mock will stir discussion. END Read More!

SA Mock Draft #2 (2 Rounds)

by: Michael Steffes

Let me first start out by saying how hard this was to do. At least when you attempt to put a lot of thought into it, and use resources to guide the picks, especially once I got into the second round. If you change one pick in the first, it inevitably changes 5-8 picks in the second. It becomes a lot to alter if you change your mind on picks every time you look at it, which is me to a nutshell.

Regardless, I have for you the Seahawk Addicts, version 2, two round mock draft. Version 3, the three rounder, will be out next Friday. I may even attempt to add a fourth round for the Friday night before draft day, we will see.

Now I already know many of you are going to be upset by my picks, Seahawk Scoring Contest Guy for sure. However, I went with my gut, at least as to the positions. I really wanted to go with both the ND guys, who I like, but in the end neither felt right. I know John Morgan at Field Gulls loves both those guys, but I am just not sure Ruskell would, especially after seeing how that team performed against fairly average competition last year. You will also notice, the end of round one changed quite a bit. I think I managed to highlight changes in Yellow.

As I said last time, if you don't like a pick, I am totally cool with that. If you leave a solid analysis why, and who the team should take, well then you may influence my next mock draft. Sorry again SSCG, hope you enjoy most of the picks!

Trevor Laws Picking Up Steam

by: Michael Steffes

It really was only a matter of time before we saw this. And personally I had given up on posting links to any mock drafts because they all seemed pretty useless. However, Scout Networks, Chris Stuber, the same guy who wrote the article I linked to on defensive players has updated his first round mock. Who does he have the Hawks picking..... Trevor Laws.

I must say, I am working on my weekly mock draft that I promised to deliever every Friday until the draft, and in the end, I just didn't feel right with the Hawks taking Laws. I love him as a player, I think he is a perfect fit for the Hawks, and maybe it is only because I know that guessing a Ruskell pick would compare to winning a futures bet on the Giants last year. If it seems too obvious it usually is. Plus, his value is so hard to judge right now. Anyway, check out this mock and get ready for mine, which I will probably rearrange for the 19th time later tonight. END Read More!

Beat Reporter Review

by: Michael Steffes

Frank Hughes from the TNT, made his debut performance this morning on ESPN's First Take (I liked Cold Pizza Better!). So here at Seahawk Addicts, we thought we would give him a little review, and also talk about his pick... which, will probably heavily influence his review.

First off, nice outfit Frank! Digging the black shirt. Covered the basics well... Team would love to get Jonathan Stewart, would consider Brandon Albert if he was there and will take the tight end later in the draft. Spot on analysis.

It didn't hurt that he chose Keith Rivers, an excellent selection Frank. He said Rivers would provide insurance in case Leroy Hill left, and add depth this year because the Hawks lost their primary back ups in free agency. Where have I heard that before? Anyway, I am impressed. Good work Frank. END Read More!

Mock Draft Version 1

by: Michael Steffes

Ok Folks. And away we go with the Seahawk Addicts Mock Draft Series.

My original plan was to release this every Friday, adding a round each week, until the draft. That gives me three Mocks, which will eventually become a three round mock draft.

Lets remember, mock drafts are guesses. Most of us think Mel Kiper, Todd McShay, and everyone else have holes in their drafts, and I am not bold enough to say mine doesn't. So feel free to argue the picks, but give good reasons, that way I can reconsider before the next one comes out. Anyway, I put in a couple of surprises, I hope you find them amusing.
