DJ Hackett...Hurt... Again

by: Michael Steffes

In some news that shouldn't surprise anyone, Sirius NFL Radio is reporting that DJ Hackett had to miss practice today because of knee swelling. And so it begins....

Glad this news didn't come out of Kirkland today, because people would be getting grumpy. Especially considering that there was no documented injury causing the swelling. END Read More!

Sims Back Sooner Than Expected

by: Michael Steffes

Rob Sims, who had his knee scoped near the end of the first team mini camps in early May, may make it back a bit sooner than expected. According to this blurb from PFW, Sims only expects to miss 3 to 4 days of the June mini camps. The team practices Mon through Thur., so four days would encompass the first week.

This is good news, if it turns out to be fact. Sims is switching positions, something the article addresses as well, and could use the time to get more accustomed to right guard. Also, the line has been hit hard with players recovering from injury. Sims getting some time would allow him to build important chemistry with Sean Locklear at the very least. If Chris Spencer can participate too, well then this mini camp may really get the ball rolling. END Read More!

Seahawks on the Mend

by: Michael Steffes

Here is a little chart I compiled, mostly off the top of my head to give you guys an idea of who the team will still be missing, and or nursing through mini camp next week.

The good, is that with Deion Branch injured, and Bobby likely not to participate, the young WR's will continue to have a great opportunity to build chemistry with Matt.

The bad is that three fifths of the starting offensive line are out with injury, so another offseason opportunity to build continuity and feel each other out goes by with out the unit practicing together.

Uh Oh....Sims has Surgery

by: Michael Steffes

The injuries to the offensive line continue to mount already. The PI and Clare Farnsworth are reporting that Rob Sims will have his knee scoped. He missed the workout today.

He is still expected to be ready for training camp, however, this now makes three starting linemen who will be recovering from surgery during the offseason activities. This unit has a new member in Mike Wahle, and Sims is playing a new position. On top of that, they are working with a new coach. It would certainly benefit them to be able to practice together throughout the summer. That now seems unlikely to happen until at least August. END Read More!

A Look at the Seahawks Health

by: Michael Steffes

As the Hawks open mini-camp today, I thought it would be worthy of a post to take a look at the Hawks health. If you remember last year, the Hawks had numerous players coming off surgery and missing camp. These included Big Walt, Chris Spencer, Marcus Tubbs, Shaun Alexander and even Matt Hasselbeck.

This year the training room is going to be full during mini camps again. Not only that but some of the Seahawks top players are most likely skipping mini-camp. Walter will be resting his shoulder which was worked on again. Deion Branch is obviously going to miss camp. Patrick Kerney will probably be held out because of his shoulder surgery. I believe Rocky Bernard had his groin worked on too.

Two other Seahawks had offseason surgery. Floyd Womack had surgery on his bicep and Josh Scobey had surgery on his broken leg. Neither are currently under contract with the team, although it sounds recently as if Womack may be back as early as today. END Read More!

Tubbs on Track to Help Team

by: Michael Steffes

Word, and hope, continue to build about the progress of Marcus Tubbs' recovery from two knee surgeries in two years. Profootballweekly, calling Marcus the Seahawks X-factor, says that his knees feel good. Also, the Seahawks are hopeful that he will be part of the rotation for 15-20 plays in running situations.

Lets give Marcus some positive energy. This guy has spent two years in the trainers room. That means he has been in Seattle, working very hard, without the carrot of a game to be played in front of him. He is coming into the final year of his deal, and I personally wish him nothing but the best. I am sure Marcus would much rather be playing than rehabbing. I for one am going to think positive on this. I like the idea of him being the Seahawks X Factor. Go Marcus! END Read More!

Marcus Tubbs

by: Michael Steffes

Many of us have been wondering what is going on with Marcus Tubbs. We sense it foolish to be counting on him for any help at all this year. However, here comes some promising news. As always, with his finger on the pulse of rabid Seahawk fans, Clare Farnsworth spent the first day of the offseason program talking to Marcus Tubbs. Great work on Clare's part!

While it seems that even Tim Ruskell is skeptical, nobody seems ready to count Marcus out. In fact, he seems like a stand up guy, who isn't trying to fool anyone and is telling it like it is. I for one am cautiously optimistic about how much he may contribute, but one thing is for sure, now I will be hoping it happens, for Marcus' sake. END Read More!
