OK folks, I have scoured the entries and I have received an email back from the big winner, so I am ready to disclose the info for all you waiting and wondering.
If you want to know who the lucky cat was....
First let me say that the winner did a bang up job on this one! The pick came a lot quicker than I would of expected. But first, let me give some notoriety to those who made valiant predictions.
Reader Drew B. guessed 7 first round trades. Two others had 6, but nobody had 8.
Reader Warren B. was the only one who guessed Lawrence Jackson. Nice call my man.
Alas, these were only the tie breakers.
Matt from Ohio guessed 2:42:39 which was good for 3rd, Reader Brian from Vegas guessed 2:48:45, which was a close second. Nice work gents, however....
Reader Bobby, known by the handle Big Seahawk Loser (kind of ironic right), with 2:49:21 was the big winner. He was within 13 seconds! How about that!
I want to thank all of you for participating. There was an unbelievable amount of participation. It will be my distinct honor to send Bobby a new replica jersey for the upcoming season. I love the idea of contests because it allows me the opportunity to reward my readers and make following the Hawks even a little bit more fun. I really enjoy writing and running the site and you, as readers do an awesome job supporting the site. Thank you. I know some of you are frustrated with the comments and I can assure you I am working hard on remedying that as well. Hang in there.
If you didn't win, don't worry, there will be another contest around the corner. And even though I am not picking up the tab, you can get all the Hawk gear you need, including any players replica jersey you might want at the SA Merchandise Partner, The Seattle Team Store. So go check out what they got! By using the sites partners, and checking out what they offer, it allows me to hold fun contests like this one. For all of you who do this on a regular basis, it is appreciated. Thanks again! I am convinced the coolest Hawk fans on the web read here! Mini camp is starting soon and 08' will be here before we know it. Goooooooooooo Hawks!!! Lets win one for coach!

Draft Day Contest Winner

Welcome Aboard
by: Michael Steffes
Some of you may have noticed a new link in the right sidebar of the page today. It is to the Seattle Team Store and is listed as the official merchandise partner of Seahawk Addicts. Seattle Team Store approached me and asked if I would like to be the guinea pig for an advertising program they were starting. I have been a long time Seattle Team Store customer and was excited to hear they are fans of the blog.
I am sure many of you have been to one of their many stores, especially the one across the street from Qwest Field. They also run the Dawg Den and Husky Headquarters as well. If you are an out of towner, their website www.Seattleteams.com is an absolute must for those looking to get the best gear of their favorite Seattle teams. Now, not only will you be getting the best selection of Hawks, M's, and Huskies gear, but you help support Seahawk Addicts as well. It is a win win peeps!
The final kicker is even better. By adding Seattle Team Store, I was able to open up a whole new level of jersey selection for the winner of the draft day contest. Being a fan owned shop, they know the players you want! Add players like Deon Grant, Kelly Jennings, or even Leroy Hill to the possibilities. Make sure you enter the contest ASAP, as entries close tomorrow at midnight! If you need info, click on the banner above the first post. END

Two Weeks Til Draft Day
by: Michael Steffes
With the Draft only two Saturdays Away, I thought now would be an appropriate time to remind all of you that Seahawk Addicts is offering up a replica jersey of one of your favorite players to the person who most closely guesses the time the Seahawks first are "on the clock."
It only takes a little research to get a sweet jersey from Fans Edge. If you want a look, there is a banner at the bottom of the page that will allow you to look at their selection. Here is a link to the original post. There is also this bit of info.
That will help guide you to making the most of your chance. Good Luck Everybody! END

The Big Winner Is.....
Not DJ Hackett. I bet if you asked him, he thought he would already be spending his 10 million dollar bonus by now. However.....his demise was another's gain.
OPTIMISTICSEAHAWKFAN (love the name!!!) Other wise known as Steve Calkins is the winner of the Inaugural Seahawk Addicts, NFL DRAFT GEAR CONTEST.
His official prediction was the Hawks, on a 1yr deal for 3.25 w/ 3.25 Guaranteed. Signed 6/1. Only being 250K off, makes him the winner.
Honorable Mention goes to IDAHOSEAHAWKFAN who guessed 5.75. Also Congrats to LESTHOMAS who guessed 3/17 as the signing date, to bad your contract worth was a bloated 13 mil. And Finally as an FYI...nobody guessed the Panthers.
It was a lot of fun tracking and watching, and it will be even more fun for Steve who gets to pimp his Hawks NFL Draft Gear in April. If you didn't win, don't fret, you can get the gear yourself by clicking on the Fans Edge Banner at the bottom of the screen. The hat is worth every penny, it is top notch work from Reebok.
I will have a new contest soon, so until then....Thanks for supporting the site. Maybe I will do a poll to find out what I should give away next!

The End is Near
Looks like the time is coming to doll out the gear to the DJ Hackett contest winner.
According to the Charlotte Observer, DJ will choose a team soon.
Here is the take from the Rock Hill Herald. Darin Gantt seems to be backing off his previous notion that Hacks east coast swing was all for leverage.
I am kind of in the middle of dinner commitment, but I wanted to pass this along. Most of it has already been said, but I wanted to let you know it was out there. I'll be back later....play nice. END

Hackett Is Coming Home
With out a contract. Here is the entry from Darin Gantt at the Rock Hill Herald about the situation.
He seems to think that DJ's trip out east was just for show and that he is trying to come up with a figure for the Seahawks to match.
I don't know what the Panthers offered if anything, but John Clayton said on KJR this morning that the Redskins only offered him a deal for the veteran minimum and Tampa didn't make him an offer at all. Hopefully the front office can work something out with him, because the complete lack of serious interest in him this offseason may be just the thing he needs to tough it out a little more. If he stays on the field, I truly believe he has pro bowl potential.
By the way, just for you interest, for all those who entered, the lowest offer submitted in the contest was 3.25. There was also a 6.4 above that. Those are looking pretty good right now. For those with much larger offers, if it is any consolation, I thought he would get PAID too. END

Surprise Contender??
The Broncos, who earlier released Javon Walker, have contacted the agent of one D.J. Hackett. This is a surprise only in the sense that not one person in the contest to guess Hackett's deal picked the Broncos. However, DJ is a University of Colorado product. That helped lure Daniel Graham back there last year. The story says, while interest has been shown, no visit is scheduled. The Broncos are also interested in Niko Koutovides. I hate the Broncos!
If you want to see all the predictions from the contest, I posted them here. So many posts today, if you don't catch em' quick they disappear.

Tampa Backing Off Hackett
According to this blog post this morning from the St. Pete Times, Tampa has turned most of its efforts towards Drayton Florence. Found in that post is this statement...
At receiver, the Bucs have taken a look at Seattle receiver D.J. Hackett, but our understanding is there's a feeling inside the organization that he isn't much different from Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall. Indications we're getting are that the team still thinks Clayton can help the team and is certainly the toughest receiver on the roster. When teams recognize that Michael Clayton (Not the George Clooney Character) is tougher than you is the same time you realize all those injuries might be knocking down your value. That said, look for Tennessee to be the next big player on Hack, if Berrian signs in Minny today.
All you late entrants in the Hack Contract Contest, who chose the Bucs, may have gotten tricked

The Tampa Tribune has heard that the Bucs are highly interested in signing DJ Hackett. Makes sense. They need a weapon opposite of Joey Galloway, and they run a WCO. Here is the blog post from the Tribune.

How Much Will DJ Make???
Apparently, it is almost certain that DJ Hackett will be testing the market. According to Frank Hughes, after meeting with the Hawks brass in Indy, Hacketts agents said this:
“We are going to test the market,” Robinson said. “I won’t rule out Seattle as a destination but we are going to test the market and see what’s out there.”
Obviously this is no surprise to me, being that I centered a contest around what Hackett will make in Free Agency and set the deadline to enter for Thursday @ 9pm. But I thought I would use this story to pump up the contest for those who may have missed it. If you can guess what DJ will make, seahawkaddicts.com with set you up for draft day. Check out the info in this post, or in the new lefthand sidebar.
