If we can get two #1s for Trufant, do it. But nobody is that dumb this day and age. The salary cap and an even more dependence on the draft (except for Washington) makes it almost impossible for a team to want to give up two #1s.

If Dallas were dumb enough to trade up their two later round picks for Tru, that would be great.

There would probably be enough ammunition to trade up to get Mendenhall and then still something left over.

My bad on Mirer, I knew we had gotten 2 picks for him. The point of that post was that Mirer was a complete bust, Galloway was a decent player.
Trufant is likely a better player relative to position, than either of them. I expect that some of the losers in the Assante Sammuel chase might be calling his agent and having words.

I feel, if we get Crumpler a TE will not be drafted until round 3 or 4. With Crumpler, we are afforded an opportunity to develop a TE instead of drafting one to start. That being said, I wish and hope we get Utech instead.

I also don't think Trufant will warrant a first round selection. Maybe we can get a early 2nd round for him thus having 2 x 2nd round picks. That being said, defense wins championships and if we lose Trufant our defense takes a huge step back.

My hope....sign Trufant to a 5-6 year contract to take less of a hit on the cap. RESIGN DJ!, Fix the sh$tty RB situation (hopefully Mendehall slides to us, but doubtful). And finally, draft or sign a DT. All this above equals atleast a trip to the NFC Championship.

I don't agree with those of you that believe we can get 2 first round draft picks for Trufant. Sure, that's what may be demanded, but what is offered is a completely different story. After seeing the deal that Samuel signed, I don't know why anyone would give up 2 firsts AND give someone $9-10 mil/year. Just not going to happen.

If we sign Crumpler do we go hard after a RB or do we still look to draft a TE. As I said earlier it seems everyone is forgetting about Joe Newton on our practice squad. The guy can play. Granted I haven't seen much, but I like what I saw. I say trade Tru! 2 first rounders seems a no brainer. That 9 mil is slowin us down in FA. All the mock drafts have us pickin a TE from Pudue. Its a good time for the Alge signing. He'll bring something new to the offense. Ruskell will know whether or not Alge has anything left in the tank- heck- he saw him up close not than long ago. Same with Mora. He is no Marcus Pollard. I agree with pretty much everything the first anonymous post said.
Draft the best available in round one. Hopefully Keller or Forte is available in round 2, or Ray Rice. Those three could all contribute in year one.

I really think Tru will get signed. I think this has been posturing to this point and they are just trying to get the best deal they can.

I cannot believe that the Rams paid Brown so much money. He's a nice kicker, and he's beaten the Rams a few times, which is nice, but when you are as bad as they were last year, if you are going to overpay a free agent to come to you- why overpay a kicker?

Hopefully the Hawks will be able to keep Koutie or Bentley.

Ink him, draft a solid TE in the 2nd or 3rd round (all tight ends including fred davis seem to be falling in draft boards)...restructure shawn and ink tru once market dies down and get maybe a larry triplett. Plenty of good rb's later like forte or rice (4.4 40). Also maybe draft balmer(dt) or baker(OT) or best availabe value first round. I like the moves for The walrus' last yr.
