Through consistent defense and solid QB play, the Seahawks have orchestrated a 27-17 victory over the visiting Tennessee Titans. Excellent way to start the year, though some aspects of the team still need to be fully worked out. (And I expect nothing less from the first preseason game.)
Post your reactions here, 12th man. This was a promising sign of things to come.
Regarding the 18 game season; I think that's what all of the "roughness" calls the refs were making last year are about. If they change to an 18 game season in a year or two, that's when the Hawks should be peaking, which would be OK for them. Right now it would hurt the Hawks because they are still getting their poop together during the preseason. The rebuilding teams would be hurt with less preseason games.
It became evident from the very first play of the game that the Seahawks now have a championship quality defensive secondary. If one or two more units, such as the O-Line, or the front seven can reach that same level, then the Hawks will be formidable.
Both of the QB's showed some upside. Both also have some work to do, but I thought Wilson looked impressive. The way that he avoided the pass rush, his arm, and his composure were all very good. He also seemed to have a good pocket presence. He made one bubble-head pass into the end zone, but other than that, he looked like he belonged back there.
Flynn looked like a guy who could develop into a competent game manager. He looked comfortable running the offense. On one play he looked like he forgot which color jersey to throw the ball to, but other than that, he looked pretty solid.
The Seahawks certainly looked lesss rusty then I expected. Flynns dunk and drop passes werent inspiring though he had a quick release and looked confident. Im hoping the big play ability will return when some of our receivers are back. Wilson looked great for his first game. Letting him marinate for a couple seasons could go a long way for the future of the franchise. All in all I liked what we saw. The D looked imposing and I really think we've got a ton of depth at that end of the ball. Can't wait for reg season. (god I hope they go to a 18 game season... If only to lose two preseason games).
