(Note: I've had some trouble this week getting Game Rewind and my PC to play nice with each other, which has delayed my article examining the team's blocking against the Cardinals. I've finally gotten the problem fixed, so I'll be able to finish my analysis tomorrow. Look for it to be posted Friday evening or Saturday morning.)
First off, the injury report. WR Charly Martin has already been ruled out for week two, which is understandable seeing as how he's recovering from a bruised lung and all. He isn't expected to return for a few weeks.
More worrisome is Sidney Rice, Zach Miller, and Marshawn Lynch's injury situations, as all three would be significant losses if they can't play on Sunday. Rice hasn't practiced either Wednesday or Thursday because of a knee injury, while Miller went from being a limited participant on Wednesday to not practicing at all on Thursday due to a foot injury. Marshawn Lynch was a limited participant on both days due to back spasms, but keep in mind that last week that same problem didn't stop him from rushing 21 times for 85 yards (4.0 yards per carry), catching two receptions, or playing backfield bodyguard for Russell Wilson on a few passing downs.
Thankfully, the news isn't all bad. Russell Okung didn't practice on Wednesday after suffering a bone bruise to his knee against the Cardinals, but was a limited participant in practice on Thursday. Greg Scruggs (hamstring) and CB Byron Maxwell (shoulder) have been full participants this week. their return should bolster the Seahawks both on defense and special teams. Golden Tate has also been a full participant in practice this week after missing week one with a knee injury, although I'll let you guys judge the extent to which that constitutes good news.
For the Cowboys, NT Jay Ratliff has yet to practice this week while he rests an injured ankle, and LB Demarcus Ware has been limited in practice all week with a hamstring problem. Ratliff is Dallas' best run stuffer, while Ware is their best pass rusher -- needless to say, the Seahawks will benefit greatly if one or both of them is unable to play this week.
Blue Friday Contest
One of Nike's PR folks recently sent me an email about their Blue Friday contest, which if nothing else looks to be a decent way to win something for minimal effort. Twitter isn't really my speed, but I figured some of you might be interested in taking a crack at it. From the press release:
"Show your Seattle and Seahawks pride by wearing blue and posting your best 12th Man pics to #SEAHAWKSBLUE FRIDAY. The most original submissions will be selected by the Seattle Seahawks to win an autographed Nike Seahawks Game Jersey. The winners will be selected on Saturday at 8:00 AM and will need to confirm with Nike/Seahawks within 4 hours of being notified in order to remain eligible for prizee. If there is no contact within 4 hours the second round of selects will begin being notified.
"All 11 confirmed winners will be announced @usnikefootball and @seahawks and will be invited to join us for a pre-game celebration at the Stadium Pro Shop Sunday morning at 11:30 AM. All fans are welcome to join the festivities and enter to win additional prizes between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM in front of the Stadium Pro Shop. Fans can enter to win the 12th autographed 12th Man Jersey during this time."
I've finally gotten the kinks worked out and Game Rewind is behaving on my PC, but people are going to start to arrive for a barbecue in about a half hour so the article will go up later this evening. It may not cover the entire game, but it'll cover at least the first half. This process should go much more smoothly (and result in a much more timely and complete article) with whatever I decide to look at on film next week.
