Seattle has won three games this year largely on the strength of its defense and run attack, but with the Patriots stonewalling Lynch and the defense allowing a season-high 23 points, the fate of the game rested entirely on Wilson's shoulders. Today, the rookie QB stepped up and delivered, throwing for nearly 300 yards, zero interceptions, and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 46 yard long bomb to Sidney Rice on a post route.
Last year, the Seahawks were a QB short of being a special team. Today, it sure as hell looked like they've finally got one.
We called this from the beginning, that the hawks will make a push and win this division and we can tell you why here and show u why they call us the prophets!! http://nfllatestnews.com/week-6-recap/
Just found this site.
Great win over the Pat's on Sunday (especially since my son is a huge Pats fan). He's been trash talking for years.
Been a Seahawk's fan for about 20 years, hasn't been easy living in Toronto and being a fan. As you can imagine, taken a lot of abuse over the years. Can't wait to see my team in my own back yard when they play the Bills in Dec.
Believe me there are Hawk's fans everywhere!!!!!
@Ken Madden Nice to meet you, Ken. There's always room for more Seahawks fans around here.
@Ken Madden Welcome Ken! This blog is a small but diehard community of Seahawk fans. I'm certain a lot more people read then comment (I used to be one) but I hope you stick around. Matt (who writes most the articles) is relatively unbiased (as much as a fan can be), analytical, thoughtful, and well studied. I'm a season ticket holder and an absolute nut. I love the hawks and the optimism I'm feeling for this year hasn't shown its face in almost 5 years. Go Hawks!
@KyleHobbs Yeah, I've been thinking about removing that link. The site app was Chris Sullivan's baby, and I know next to nothing about it (I don't own a smart phone or tablet computer, so I've never used it myself).
Hey Matt. Who the heck is Scott Robb? http://www.foxboroblog.com/2012-articles/october/interview-with-seahawkaddict-scott.html
@KyleHobbs Yeah Matt, who is he? I don't think I have seen his name as a contributor before.
Wow that cb Richard Sherman is one very arrogant cocky player.Thats something to trash talk to the opposing team's QB after he lit you up all day and then you win on a long TD pass and he gets in 3 time SUPERBOWL CHAMP Tom Brady's face. But then again the seahawks have won let me think ok got it ZERO SB'S.Over the years since 05 what 1 playoff appearance maybe 2.Big bad seahawks and their dreadlock defense will get hammered on the road starting in Frisco thurs. They already won 1 game on a bad call.Yeah richard sherman, thug wanna-be,bet he wears his pants down by his knees.all-Trash talk 1st team what a joke the seahawk organization is.
@South Jersey22 Hey Jersey, unless you can use those prior super bowl trophies to bribe your way into the current super bowl, they mean nothing. Any player will tell you the only thing that matters is winning games now. The goal is always to win this year, not fail but continue to relish on past accomplishments. Sure the Seahawks have had some pretty lousy seasons, we as true fans are aware of them. Thats why we are so excited when our team is finally coming together and doing well. It also makes the victory taste even sweeter when we beat a team as good as Patriots. Now I am not talking about the Patriots from a few years ago who won a super bowl, I am talking about the Patriots this year. You know, the best offense in the NFL currently. True that may not have been the classiest thing for Sherman to do at the end of the game, but if you would have read the back story on it you would discover that Brady taunted them DURING the game when they had the lead. He had said to Sherman "Why don't you come see me after the game when we win." If thats not an open invitation to go give someone some shit I don't know what is. With all that being said, you should remove yourself from these posts. All you are is a sore loser with your feelings hurt. We understand. But to come here on a Seahawk fans blog and start talking trash (about our players talking trash) only makes you look like an idiot and a douchebag. Do yourself a favor and go find a fan base who might care about what you have to say.
@South Jersey22 Your blatant racism aside, all you've just proven is that your attention span is rabbit-short. You want to bring up your franchise's history? Okay, let's take a look.
Belichick is a Hall of Fame coach, but he's only been New England's head coach for 13 seasons. In the 40 seasons prior to that, the Patriots were a sub-.500 team in both the regular season (46% win percentage) and the postseason (41%) and had gone 0-2 in the Super Bowl.
The best part, though, is that Patriots fans have a long and storied history of only admitting to being Patriots fans so long as their team is having a winning season. In the Pacific Northwest, we'll criticize the hell out of our team when they're losing, but we stick by them through thick and thin. Compared to that, those three Lombardis come up a bit wanting.
P.S. You do realize you just had a hissy fit in front of a bunch of strangers because your team lost one game, right? Grow up.
@Matthew Heuett well put Matt. This guy can't harsh my 4-2 buzz right now. Cant believe the NFCw is 15-9... And two of us have beat the Pats. Not too shabby. I'm looking forward to your game break down. My thoughts on the game are simple. Had we gotten the other ints this game wouldn't have been close. Or if we had not fumbled twice this game wouldn't have been close... Really 3 fumbles if you include the Ryan fumble, but no points were allowed on that drive.
@South Jersey22 seeing as how your QB was talking trash about turn the 12th man against the Seahawks and apparently during the game, he deserved what he got in the end. I love how fans of teams who have been to the SB like to bring up how many they've been to and how many they've won. Its a new year. What's in the past is in the past. What matters is what your team is doing this year, and by the looks of your .500 record, I'd say average. You were favored by roughly 10+ pts to win and you lost. Deal with it, you got beat by a better team on Sunday. Having the trash the your QB was talking thrown back in his face is an added bonus.
Oh god, calm down princess. If the shoe was on the other foot you'd have no problem with your cb talking trash. I think its funny now go lay down.
Well I'm not going to tell everyone that I told you so. By there were plenty of calls for Flynn after our loss to the rams. Rookie QBs are developing, they'll have bad games and good ones. The last two have been pretty good (last night was great). Next time we lose and Wilson isn't great remember that he's a work in progress. To Hawks!
@KyleHobbs He is getting better and looked great for the most part. Seeing our "short" QB throwing those deep passes really looked a lot like Drew Brees (he connected with 3 different WR's for 40 yards or more, 2 of those was for over 50 yards). There were times where he seemed to have troubling with decision making, even when he decided to run. I agree though, those quicker decisions will come with experience. That is the main element of his game where I think he can really improve. I would be thrilled if he could manage to throw for 3 TD's every game!!!
@marshall21 I think this is the Wilson we saw preseason. Had enough confidence, vision, and time to throw downfield. The 9 y/completion the the first several weeks was annoying. I think we can safely say that was the coaches. Yesterday the Pats decided to focus on the ground game and really put Wilson to the test. I gotta say that the first few games has shown us that he doesn't buckle under pressure. Man has titanium nuts.
My one question/comment to Wilson would be: We can see now that you are a great QB and clearly can throw the deep ball with accuracy. Can you do all of us fans a favor and try to win some games with a little bit of breathing room? Sure it makes exciting football, but we really don't need every game to be a nail biter! Oh, and congrats on scoring more fantasy points than Tom Brady and ranking number 5 in QB's for this week. I don't think anyone saw that coming!
That was an amazing finish to a game! I am really impressed with how well Wilson starts and finishes, I would just like to see him play like that for all 4 quarters and not just the 1st and 4th. I am guessing that Wilson is going to win the Pepsi Max rookie of the week award!
Right after the game ended I switched over to NFL Red Zone just in time to see Buffalo intercept Skelton to set them up for the game winning FG. Then saw that the Niners and Rams lost as well. It was the happiest day in football for me in a long time! I think I woke up smiling even this morning!!
Wow. Just got home from the game. Crazy. I'll post my thoughts on it once I watch it on tv but wow. Wow. Just wow.
Wilson's footwork, ball fake, and throw added up to a work of art. He is perfect play action QB, and they
should do it more often.
@LouisLouis What makes the win even better is that the 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams all lost their games today.
Three 4-2 teams in one division -- I guess this means we don't have to hear any more about how the weak competition in the NFC West is ruining things for the rest of the conference.
