When I took over running Seahawk Addicts last year, one of the first changes I made was to get rid of the LiveFyre comment system. LiveFyre was clunky, it greatly slowed down the site's load time, and it just plain didn't work at all for several of our readers. In short, it needed to go. The old comment system may have been a creaky, old, and filled with spam, but at least folks could use it to post comments. The last time I checked, that was kind of the whole point of having a comment system.
Recently, after considerable discussion, we decided to switch back to LiveFyre. As it turns out, once they got around to streamlining their software and working out the bugs, their comment system is actually pretty slick. LiveFyre now features nested replies like you see on Facebook and ESPN, which makes it easy to tell at a glance who is talking to whom, and comment threads now refresh automatically whenever a new comment is posted, so there's no need to hit refresh repeatedly to follow our game day comment threads. But most importantly, it loads reasonably quickly and it actually works.
The Bloguin IDs everyone used to log in to the old comment system are not compatible with LiveFyre, But that doesn't necessarily mean that you have to create a whole new account just to use the new system. You have the option of signing up for a LiveFyre ID to post comments here, but you can also sign in using your pre-existing Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, Google, or LinkedIn account and post under that user name. After typing in your response, just hit the "Post As" button and a pop-up window with options much like the ones you see on this page will appear. Just click the icon on the left side of the screen that corresponds to the log in ID you wish to use, or type your info into the fields on the right side of the window and hit "next" to go to a new screen where you'll be given the option of registering for a LiveFyre ID or posting as a guest by clicking on, conveniently enough, "Comment as Guest."
If you have any questions or problems using the new system, you can send me an email using our contact form and I'll do my best to help any way I can.
