The Seahawks entered this week in control of a wild card berth, and they held on to it today with a road win against the Bears. At times, it seemed like overthrows, bad calls, and Cutler-to-Marshall were going to conspire to drop Seattle to 6-6, but in the end the offense got it done.
And you know what? At the end of the fourth quarter, with the game on the line and the ball in Wilson's hands, I was surprised at how much confidence I had that the Seahawks could drive the length of the field for a touchdown. I don't think I've felt like that about a Seattle offense since Hasselbeck's last pro bowl season in 2007.
Enjoy the win in the comments below.
Also, lets hand it to Bevel for learning. If Wilson is on fire and the game is on the line we don't need to be running it. We were in the same situation last week against the Fins and Bevel blew it... he clearly is learning with the rest of the team. And that is something I really appreciate! Great job Bevel (I'm sure he's reading and cares about my opinion right?).
I can't imagine the anger I'd have if we lost. The one dude on the field that's catching balls and you let him have a giant one at the end? Anyway, Wilson looked good. I'm awaiting the point where he starts dominating games. Puts up 4 TDS and let's the D have another bye week. All in all I'm pretty pumped. Can't believe ill be cheering for the Pats this weekend, excuse me, I just threw up a little
I would say that game was a nail biter but from what my neighbors could gather, I was NOT pleased with refs early on. Two things I gained respect for from this game. One, Wilson to Tate combo. Those two are superb! Second, Brandon Marshall. Way to grow up dude. He has always had freakish ability and I question if the demise of WR's like Terrell Owens and Chad 85 has brought him down to a team based attitude. Crossing my fingers for the health of Sydney Rice after that hit in the end zone and two, for our secondary to recover from the possible loss of Sherman and Browner. Maybe the powers to be think its as stupid as we do to punish players for legal drugs that have the side effect of enhancement! Oh yeah, Coffee enhances me in the miring, I guess my boss should punish me too!
@12stndinbama Marshall was incredible. On that 56 yard pass towards the end of regulation, Sherman should have gone for a deflection instead of a pick, but against nearly any other receiver in the league he probably would have caught an interception there. Marshall just did a hell of a job of shielding Sherman out of the play.
@12stndinbama I think Sidney Rice is OK. He didn't have a concussion. Tate is starting to show why Carroll and Co. drafted him. He had another stellar performance. RW really spread the ball around too. It was nice to see Baldwin get in the game and contribute. The passing game really is starting to look pretty good.
@LouisLouis you know what, Russell Wilson truly is one helluva QB. I thought a couple weeks ago, we passed up an opportunity to grab a free agent to contribute to lack of a showing in the WR area. All they need is time to mesh to be that Moss-Carter-Cunningham triple threat waiting to see arrive in Seattle all these years. Lastly,.....PAGING MR IRVIN, BRUCE IRVIN where are YOU!!! Haha
Great game! The officiating was VERY partisan, but the Hawks overcame that. The defense did it's best to cough up the game, but the offense overcame that. Fortunately, we have a sensational young quarterback who put together TWO game winning drives. This guy gets better every week. I do believe he can lead Seattle to its magic ring.
