In the 'cut day losers' column put out by ESPN Senior Football Writer and Seahawk expert, John Clayton drops this piece of information on the already-shellshocked 12th Man:
Seattle's coach must stop the bleeding on the offensive line. While it was a nice move to pick up Stacy Andrews from the Eagles for a seventh-round pick, the trade is going to lead to the departure of right tackle Sean Locklear, who, according to multiple sources, is being shopped in a trade and isn't expected to be around by opening day. Left tackle Russell Okung is out with an ankle injury and is questionable for the opener. The left guard job is open and now the right tackle job is in flux.
So much for building line continuity.

Ruskell brought this team to the brink of obscurity. The only time we have seen the Seahawks on any highlight films lately is when the other team is scoring a TD, making an interception or a sack, or catching a long pass down field. A major overhaul is in order.
I think Carroll does have a vision of what the Seahawks should be, and he's moving the team in that direction. The guys that he has been getting rid of do not fit into that vision. It doesn't mean that some of them are not good players, it just means that they don't fit into Carroll's vision.
I predict the Seahawks will be drafting at or near the bottom of the first round in a few short years.

We will look very different this season - I like it. The one thing that did concern me was Gibbs quiting at such an inopportune time. But we picked up a new O-line coach and we move on. I'm gonna blindly believe that he left for health reasons, but who really cares, he left - and I wish him well. He was quite old anyways.
The 9ers will not face a strong Hawks' team as we will be scrambling to get an O-line together. My hope is that they game plan well enough to protect Hass. If we go 6-10 this year, I would be pleased - at least it is one more win than what Mora was able to squeeze out. Okung - Pitts - Spencer - Unger - Andrews looks good to me. This could be a formidable front until we replace Pitts next year with Hudson and Andrews with someone else that we can find in the draft.
Whitehurst is not the long term solution at QB - I think we all know that. Perhaps Locker is, or some other high profile QB that comes out next year. We will have a much improved team in a year's time.
Go Hawks.

Our line just got a great deal better even though I don't like the release of Wrotto. I'll take Okung-Hamilton/Pitts-Spencer-Unger-Andrews all day over what we had and to be completly honest, I say we shop Spencer too and put Unger at C where he belongs. It's not too far fetched with PC and JS openly wanting stating that they want to play their young guys. I'd love to see Okung-Hamilton-Unger-Pitts-Andrews. That's an above average OL with Hamilton to mentor Okung. My only concern would be Unger, but having two vet OG's next to him is exactly the environment he needs to learn the line calls and master the position. Where do I sign up for that one?

Think about it, we have the LB's. Hawthorne and Tatupu work well in the middle with Curry and Herring/Hill on the outside. We cut Haggler who doesn't translate well and Davis is coming along nicely.
We cut Vickerson and signed Junior Siavii who is a nose tackle. Cole could play NT, Bryant is probably more suitable as a 3-4 DE, we got rid of Jackson and signed Balmer and Mebane could play a 3-4 DE. Nick Reed could hav gone on the PUP list, but instead we just gave him the axe. Why? We have the pieces, the only question mark I have is Clemons and if he could fit or not.
Just some more fodder for the boys to mull over.

Been there and done that as far as Craig T. is concerned.
All the other moves seem OK to me. Needed to clean house. I think it will help over the long term but 2010 is going to be rough. I am look at this year as a really long exhibition season.
Would really like to see a splash tomorrow (new RB, DE or WR) with some firepower but I'm not holding my breath.

With the line the Hawks have had the past couple years, I think the LAST thing I want to see is "continuity". They are in a groove of playing poorly and that's gotta stop.

Pete and John are working their butts off to improve our team as soon as possible. There is no guarantee that the guys they bring in will play out. If they don't, guess what, they're gone and bring in someone else. The message to the players is simple, how bad do you want this job?
Not very lovey dovey, it's football.
