The Seahawks have signed David "The Heater" Hawthorne to a one-year, $1.38 million-dollar extension over the weekend, including a signing bonus totaling out at $350,000.
Playing in his third year from TCU, Hawthorne has proved a more than capable replacement for Leroy Hill, leading the team in tackles from the weak-side linebacker position. Hawthorne saved a couple of big plays over the weekend against the Chiefs (though it didn't seem to matter much in the end), and has apparently proved himself valuable enough to Pete Carroll and the coaching staff to not hit free agency in 2011.
Ben Obomanu and Mike Williams absolutely need to be re-signed next. This offense depends on it.
