Sorry for reporting this article slowly....

G Rob Sims is wanted by the Chicago Bears according to the Chicago Tribune. The Chicago Tribune also reported that the Bears' DE Alex Brown could possibly be traded to the Seahawks as compensation instead of a 4th round pick. According to the Chicago Sun Times however, Seattle does not want Alex Brown at all.

The Seahawks have a need for a pass rusher, especially after trading Darryl Tapp to the Philadelphia Eagles and losing Cory Redding in free agency. The Seahawks are believed to be far more interested in the draft pick. That would be three 4th round picks for the Seahawks if the Sims deal went through.

What can we all conclude from this late breaking news???? Same ole thing as the past week... Sims is going to be traded or signed by some other team some time within the next few months.

Hmmmm, maybe we could trade a lot of Ruskell's guys to the Bears now that he is expected to be joining them. I would rather have the 4th round pick than Brown. He is 30 and I'm sure his best days are well behind him.
NO BROWN....

frist off, thanks steve m. For the update! I was starting to go nuts with nothing new being written up. Do you think maybe PC might have tipped his draft hand a bit, I do agree that alex brown is a bad move (if made). I think PC and JS have their eye on someone in the draft, but i dont think it would be morgan. 3, 4th round picks would be great to have to.

Can we please get draft pick?
Thanks

Thanks Hawksovermymarriage.... I agree with you. I think that PC tipped his hand a little. I think that McCoy, Dunlap, or Morgan could possibly be the target at #6 or even #14 if they are available. Griffen at #14 is a possibility but I have strong beliefs that the #14 pick may be headed towards Spiller, Bryant, or even a far reach for OT Brown. Things will change though tomorrow probably.
A good piece.

Misleading title on this post Steve.

Halkboy: Bleacher Report and "good piece" are pretty much oxymoronic.

How could they have tipped their hand? We still have the same needs we did three months ago. LT, LG, RB, WR, DE, DT, CB, S.

Mark my word, Te'o-Nesheim barring some other team picking him up in the 3rd, or us only having one 4th due to a trade with Denver will be in Seahawk blue and green.

Let me explain to everybody what Pete Carroll's defense front 7 will look like next year. Mebane with play the one technique. Suh or McCoy will play the 3 tech. Lawrence Jackson will play DE. Curry will play Elephant. Tatupu and and Hawthorne will play MLB. Hill will play OLB. It is a hybrid 3-4. The hybrid being 2 DT and 1 DE on the line instead of 1 NT and 2 DE like normal 3-4 defenses have. Hill will get more of a chance to rush the passer than he did last hear. He was pretty much a rush DE his rookie year and that was his best year as a pro IMO.

I really like DE Te'o-Nesheim as well. You are probably correct. I will remember that come draft day if we select him!

Thanks Steve. This is interesting.

A draft strategy may be emerging here. It is beginning to appear to me that the 'Hawks will address their offensive line needs in the 4th round.

They are looking for 300 lbs. smart, athletic guys in the later rounds, and working hard to identify them right now.

I want the pick.If we could get a forth rounder for Sims that would be bring our total of fourth rounders to three. You can do alot with more picks especially if you are trying to trade up to the second or third round.I cant wait for this years draft.Although i am not sure all of these picks this year will have much of an impact. But we are in a good position to get better. It should get exciting on draft day to say the least. We have lost a few guys on the Line on both sides. If Pete were smart he would load up early on line.I expect one DE,OT in the first and a WR,CB,S or RB in the second.Even though we moved back twenty spots in the second round from forty to sixty there are alot of guys that can contribute.

So lets look at some of the prospects that could be available at sixty. At WR expect to see Brandon LaFell,Arrelious Benn,Marty Gilyard,Damian Williams land somewhere in second round.

At CB if the Hawks wanted an upgrade they sure could find one here.A few guys that may be around at sixty are Patrick Robinson,Devin McCourty,Perrish Cox,Brandon Ghee and Syd Quan Thompson.

Safety is another position that is wide open in the second look for Morgan Burnett,Chad Jones,Larry Asante, and Nate Allen as possible Seahawks.

And now to the position I think the Hawks will use in the second is RB.Not sure who will be there at sixty but these guys will go sometime in the second.Jonathan Dwyer,Jahvid Best,Joe McKnight,Toby Gerhart,Ben Tate,Anthony Dixon and LeGarrette Blount.

My guess would be either between Anthony Dixon or Ben tate.I think any one of these two guys would impact this team in a positive light. What do guys think.
More Picks
written by CougHawk, March 27, 2010
I am all for getting more picks but do the Bears even have a 4th? They have very few picks this year so it may be tough to get a pick out of them.

I for one am hoping the Hawks end up with 10 to 12 picks by the time the draft is over.

I honestly think (hope) Montario Hardesty is the pick at 60. He is supposed to be taylor made for the ZBS and has a good size/speed combo. He is around 230 and runs about a 4.48 which would be a great to split carries with Forsett without encroching upon his skill set like a guy like Spiller/Best/McKinght would be.

Hawksmack of all those recievers you named I personally doubt any fall to 60. One however I really like is Andre Roberts. If he went to an actual football school insted of the Citadel I think he would be a solid second round talent, insted of being an after thought to most people. He tore it up at the senior bowl, and proved he can play against the best.

Corner and safety are so deep I think we can get a solid player in rounds 3-4. With all those fourth round picks I think trading up may be part of the plan. I'm sure there will be solid players in round 4, but if a Nate Allen or Morgan Burnett take a fall into the third I really wouldn't be surprised if we traded up. Our staff is doing a great job of keeping our options open come draft day.
Don't Forget QB.
written by LouieLouie, March 27, 2010
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Hawks take another 6th or 7th round QB in this draft. He could compete with Teel for the #3 spot, then maybe sit on the practice squad to develop. A decent back up QB may have some value later for a trade. Just ask those guys in San Diego.

pick 6th

Unless we want Bery or Spiller this pick will trade down. The Question is who would want it? Omar Suh N McCoy are gone fool. WoW you think too much.

I'll bet one of the DTs fall to 6. The way the top 6 will pan out like this IMO:

1. Bradford, Rams have to go QB here since Bulger has regressed into David Carr.
2. Okung, Stafford is the franchise so they have to protect him especially after he ended the season on IR. The Corey Williams trade eliminates DT need here.
3. McCoy, fits the Tampa 2 system better than Suh. No way they go DE. They get Warren Sapp 2.0 here. McCoy is also younger and healther than Suh.
4. Clausen, Shanahan makes his stamp on his new team.
5. Bulaga, No way KC takes a DL in the top 5 for 3 years straight. Piloi knows value and goes for the top LT on the board, must protect the 3rd highest paid QB in the NFL at all costs.
6. Suh, Gotta go with him here.

I am pretty confidant we get one of the DTs at 6. Tampa may take Suh but I doubt it.

Personally I'd pull the trigger on Suh, Okung, McCoy or Bulaga if any of them are there at #6. I just really want to see us add a major player on one of the lines.

I really hope one of the DT's fall to #6. If they do we take them. If we don't we trade back around 4 picks and take a 3rd rounder along with it. At 10 we could still pick up one of these: Spiller, Berry, Hadden, Morgan, etc. We will have tons of options at both 10 and 14 to improve two positions instantly and we would have a late second and early third that would probably start year one.

Dream draft would be with a trade @6

#10+- Spiller
#14 Dez Bryant or OT
#60 Morgan Burnett
Early 3rd) Best OT or WR depending on #14
104 Best OG
Draft Pick from Sims trade 4th RD) Best OG
127 DT/DE BPA
5th, 6th, 7th
BPA
QB, CB, S, WR, OL, DL

it's a pipe dream to think one of the DT's will be there at six, but then again stranger things have happen. I'm guessing KC would be shopping that pick hard if one of the two tackles were still available.

Everyone said it was a pipe dream that Aaron Curry would fall to us too...
...
written by T.J., March 28, 2010
Recordblender - a lot of mocks at the time actually had Curry falling past us because OLB is not a high value position. They said that even though he might be the best player in the draft, his position might force teams to pass on him. DT is a high value position. I see Eric Berry in much the same way. I think that there is no way one of the 2 DTs fall to us, but wouldn't be surprised to see us pick Berry or Bulaga and then target Spiller at 14.
