Thanks to PFT.com and Mike Sando of ESPN, WR Sean Morey is likely to sign with the Seahawks very shortly according to multiple sources. Morey will be a great addition to the special teams. He has not had much of a career as a WR, but is a great special teams player. He was selected to the 2008 Pro Bowl because of his special team abilities. You can view his stats on NFL.com here.

It was especially interesting to read the comments of the Chicago fans. They like Alex Brown. I don't know if the deal will happen, but its nice to see that there are so many deals out there to be made. The Hawks are very active.
By the way...

Morey is 34; pretty old for a special teams guy. I don't think he's expected to be a long term answer for anything.
Neat

Hoping that signing a WR that is useless other than his special teams ability means that the Marshall deal works out. ...AZ could afford carrying a receiver who doesn't contribute at all to the offense because they had three all-world receivers. Without Marshall, I'm not sure the Hawks really have that luxury...

Morey is pretty good. Against the Seahawks, he always made plays whenever they let him get onfield. He is tall and strong, and pretty fast. He made Kelly Jennings look like a fool--but doesnt everyone?! He has size and decent speed, and seems like a pretty good pickup, far better than Arnaz Battle.
He hasnt had much wear and tear, so he will be fine for a year or two. He's a savvy vet who deserves to compete for the third/fourth WR slot, and should help us in the Red ZOne.
Of course, this kind of pickup, like Ruvell Martin, is uncomfortably reminiscent of Ruskell's penchant for signing low-round draft pick OL and never-were WR's (as opposed to drafting starters at those positions high) so he could concentrate on drafting undersized DB's and DE's whose sack totals decline for three straight years....
So I think signing Morey is fine, he will help us especially on Special Teams, but the fact remains it has been almost a decade since we drafted a WR above the late third round...and that just doesnt cut it. The proof is in the pudding. You want quality starters at WR, they come from the first three rounds. Period. Marques Colstons are as rare as Tom Brady's.
Like LT, we dont HAVE to draft a WR with out first two picks--but if not this year, then we have to next year. And it wouldnt hurt to draft a couple WR's in the top 3 rounds both years.

This makes no sense...

Although Morey has had outstanding performances throughout his special team’s career, I shake my head in disbelief at what the Seahaws are doing, or should I say, not doing. I honestly thought with a losing record over the past two seasons, that we would see drastic improvement in attracting fresh new/old talent to the problem areas that has plagued us. I thought for sure this would be first priority our new coaching staff. Obviously keeping our starters healthy has been a main factor in our losses, but not addressing our needs in the important areas such as our O-line, D-line, and secondary leaves me scratching my head. I thought for sure we would have come out of the gates with a few big name acquisitions, but that has yet to happen, if ever. Instead, we signed a bunch of no-namers who, I’m sure will have a positive contribution in the future, but don’t think for a second that they will address the much needed element the Hawks are currently lacking. Let's consider our needs for a moment shall we: cornerback, safeties, d-line, d-ends, o-lineman and receiver, not to mention the key areas where veterans are near retirement, such as the quarterback position. Whitehurst!?? Are you kidding me!? Don't even get me started on that.
Everyone seems to think that all of our problems will be solved in the upcoming draft. I think not. We have too many needs and fewer draft picks. I've been a season ticket holder for over five years now (drive 300 miles one way to be at each game BTW) and I must say I haven't been more disappointed in the offseason moves than I am at present. Needless to say, I'm extremely worried about what next season will hold. The outlook is bleak.
I wish the season ticket holders could have more of a voice in this process.
