Seahawks third-string quarterback Mike Teel recently sat down for what appears to be a Skype interview with someone from CineSports (who?). She asked him about a few things, and it's a pretty interesting little three minute interview where Teel discusses being a QB coming out in the draft, what his draft day was like, and how the competition is heating up in Seattle. My favorite bit:
"Really, I have no control over my future... I'm going to try to outwork everyone there is at my position, and at the end of the day all you can say is that I've done all that I could do at my position... All Pete Carroll says is 'compete, compete, compete,' and that's all you can ever ask for as a player."
Teel's future is as up in the air as Hasselbeck's at this point. It is rare for a quarterback, especially a third stringer, to survive a regime change, but Teel will definitely get a chance to prove himself in the preseason. The Seahawks will want to maximize his trade value if they are going to dump him off, and a strong preseason can let them do just that. Still, he's not necessarily a lock for the 'bye bye wagon.' As Charlie Whitehurst proved under Norv Turner, every so often the third stringer will flash something that catches someone's eye, and they can stick around for awhile. Teel looked decent in the preseason last year, but let's not fool ourselves to believe he's a likely long-term solution.

He is worth keeping around, but I don't want to see Teel stashed on the practice squad because I'm sure some team, probably Cleveland, will snatch him up.
