Because it'll be slower than a crippled snail moving across a glacier for the next few weeks, it's an ideal time to look back for a moment and see just how different this Seahawks team has become in a mere six months. (Am I alone in feeling like those six months feel more like 26?)

Dave Boling of the Tacoma News-Tribune must've been feeling the same way, because his write-up concerning the changes made in Seattle covers almost every question we could possibly think of up until this point. Rebuilding is no easy process, and none of it happens overnight -- from the players and how they're coached, to the actual coaches themselves and how they choose to accentuate strengths of the team.

For the sake of some conversation, let's think about some of the questions Boling asks:

  • Who will emerge as the Hawks' No.2 QB? Whitehurst seemed promising, but Losman is emerging as a dark horse.
  • Will Marcus Trufant return to form? How about Lofa Tatupu? Will we see another version of the 2007 pass defense that only allowed 15 touchdowns through the air?
  • Are the Hawks happy with their backfield, or is Marshawn Lynch still a possibility? How will Leon Washington perform coming off such a grisly injury?
  • Will Russell Okung live up to the hype and become a worthy successor to Big Walt?
  • Is Leroy Hill too much of a liability now, between off-field troubles and underwhelming on-field performances?
  • And will Pete Carroll and John Schneider bring this team back to claiming the NFC West crown?
Some of these may seem like old hat by now, but the amount of speculation going into this season is all but unmatched.
