According to a report by Brad Biggs on the National Football Post, Scot McCloughan has been hired to a front office position by the Seattle Seahawks.  McCloughan served as general manager for the 49ers from February of 2005 until a few weeks before the 2010 draft when he took a temporary leave of absence from the team that eventually developed into a permanent one.

Multiple news sources have reported that McCloughan's leave of absence was for personal reasons, but differ in their guesses as to what exactly those personal reasons might have been (Burnout? Alcoholism?  Family problems?  Something else?).  However, if the report of his hiring by Seattle proves to be correct, I can only assume that those mysterious "personal problems" have now been dealt with.  If nothing else, this move would give the Seahawks a resource in the front office who is intimately familiar with the inner workings of one of their chief NFC West rivals.

Prior to his stint as GM for San Francisco, McCloughan worked as Director of College Scouting for the Seahawks from 2001 until taking the job with the 49ers in early '05.  He also worked as a college scout for the Packers from '96 to '99, which gives him some connection to Seattle's current GM (the last year of John Schneider's first stint in Green Bay was 1996, after which he spent time with the Chiefs, Seahawks, and Redskins before returning to the Packers in 2002).
