Former Oakland Raider special teams standout Isaiah Ekejiuba will meet with the Seahawks this week. His last free agent visit was with the Lions. Isaiah is a dominant special teams player, so it makes the Raiders' release of him quite a surprise in some league circles.
If Seattle signs Isaiah, the move would solidify the special teams unit, and also give the LB corps added depth (as if it needed that). It's worth noting that special teams coverage has been a big part of the team's rebuilding this offseason with the signing of Sean Morey, Quinton Ganther, and a few other potential role players. This will be a situation to watch as we approach the start of training camp.
(UPDATE: Lions just signed Isaiah. Seahawks will not add the additional Special Teams talent after all.)

It's been an ongoing source of puzzlement and frustration to me that the brass hasn't recognized that good field position delivered by stellar coverage and return units is the easiest way to make both the Offense and Defense look good.

More importantly, where are Bobby Joe, Fredd Young and Rufus Porter???

Tillman left when turned down as HC for us. He did ok elsewhere--Buffalo and the Raiders I believe. I think he's retired now.

As an aside, doesn't Bobby Joe hold the NFL record for having the longest gap/non-playing period ever between teams? Oakland in 1989 then he didn't play again until 1995 with the Bucs?

I know we've been down this road, but let's re-visit the idea of going after V-Jack while expanding the deal to take two of their headaches in return for one of ours:
We send a 2011 2nd plus a future conditional pick (lets say as low as 5th, as high as 2nd) and Leroy Hill (we could also throw in Deion Branch if they have any interest in him) for Vincent Jackson and Shawne Merriman. Hill could still provide quite a bit of value to them as a sure-tackling, run-stuffing ILB, and Merriman gets a chance to restart his career at our Leo spot. And of course our WR corps is set for the future with Tate across from Jackson. I think at this point SD might be willing to dump them both that cheaply rather than having distractions from hold-outs, and Paul Allen has the cash to get them both into camp.

Personally, an oft-injured LB who used roids and hasnt looked the same since he got off them doesnt seem like much of a pickup to me.
So basically youre saying we should trade two seconds for V. Jackson. I disagree--he really hasnt done much with all his size and speed, he doesnt take over games, he's not reliable--and he keeps getting DUI's. Add to that the huge salary he wants, and he's not worth it. Its time to see what opening competition at the WR spot can do, and if Williams can return to his college form. And wait till next year and DRAFT a real number 1 WR. Our top 3 needs next season; WR, DE, CB. (THough plenty will say qb as well).
