The Seahawks are back, baby, and so are we. The new regime is fully up and running with the first official practice of Training Camp being held this morning; the Seahawks will practice again at 4 pm today, probably in far different weather conditions than the chilly, grey morning they had today. There are a lot of questions entering camp, we all have them, but I figured I'd drop a few on you guys about what I care about. If any of you head to camp, always feel free to email us with a guest post / notes from practice.

  1. Can Red Bryant really play left defensive end? I'm excited by the development, but I still have trouble believing that a 320-330 lb, 6' 4" behemoth can play defensive end in this system. It really does create a much more 3-4 look than a basic 4-3, with Bryant and Mebane as the "ends," Cole or Vickerson as the hole-clogger, and the three LBs + Leo hybrid... It would certainly be interesting. We'll keep watching that situation.
  2. Who starts at WR? It could literally be any of about four people. This is definitely one of the more exciting position battles, and one that few of us have much of a horse in the race for... I don't care if it's Branch, Butler, Tate or Williams (I assume one of the starters will be Housh), I just want the best guys on the field as much as possible. The highest likelihood is definitely Houshmandzadeh and Branch, but Bates likes to go vertical and Schneider and Carroll like big receivers.
  3. Running Backs... we got a bunch and they're all flawed in one way or another. Forsett deserves a chance to start, of course, but if Washington is healthy, he should compete too. Julius Jones is a jack of all trades (master of none), but he could flash behind a decent line as he did in Dallas. He has the raw speed that Forsett lacks, but Washington does too and has better talents in open space. Both Forsett and Jones relish the blocking role, but how does Quinton Ganther fit in? I wouldn't be surprised to see all four make the team, with Ganther considered a fullback.
  4. Who haven't we paid attention to that we should have? A couple years ago it was David Hawthorne and Justin Forsett who blew up and earned roster spots; last year it was Nick Reed and Michael Bennett (come baaaack, Michael!). In 2010, there will be another... could it be 7th round DE/Leo Dexter Davis? Maybe Ryan Powdrell earns a spot over the rather disappointing Owen Schmitt at fullback. There are more two dozen players with "no chance" to make the team... which of them will?
  5. Charlie Whitehurst. I wanna see him PLAY, damn it.
What are your questions?
