Well, it's not that bad. Leroy Hill was suspended only 1 game due to violating the NFL substance abuse policy. (Thanks to Danny O'Neil @ Seattle Times) Unfortunately it is the game opener against San Francisco. David Hawthorne can cover Hill's absence so we shouldn't be that worried about it.
Now if we could only hear about his domestic violence issue!

If Hill returns to pre-contract form and Pete does motivate/gain players with issues, We might have chance. Hawthorne got schooled in pass protection. I do not see the linebackers being a deep position. Lofa has got to stay healthy, and if he does the heater will challenge Hill for a starting position.
Right in line with Pete's philosophy.
I think a one game suspension after being asleep at the wheel and a domestic violence case sais a lot. I do not want to know what happened, I just trust Leroy the man to step up and bring it.
Dude gave two concussions with one hit. One was Lofa.
The first concussion I saw from Lofa was when he took out the Panthers RB in Seattle for NFC Championship. His eyes just glazed amazing footage. Does anybody have a copy of that game?

BHL- The DVD for the Seahawks' 2005 season has the NFC championship game in their old Game of the Week format, but it has multiple replays of that hit from different angles. I just watched it a few minutes ago to refresh my memory, and it was actually more Goings trying to bull his way through Tatupu and knocking his own damn self out than Tatupu laying a big hit on Goings.
get rid of those "roll-over" pop-up ads!

Anyways, how funny that we only have 3 comments about Hill.
At the end of the day, dude is a pretty good LB and he will help the Defense. (not defence- pet peeve)
A one game suspension is a good deal. The Heater has been with the first team all OTS's and played well. We also have that other kid - the Curry "look-a-like" who will get some snaps too.
Frisco is going to be a tough game and I wiah we had every bullet in our gun, but one player won't make that much of a difference in a game.
The bigger aspect to the game will be ball control, and keeping their offense (not offence) OFF the field.
We'll need to come out BANGIN the ZBS, and JForce will need to make an immediate impression, with JJones surprising everyone in the stadium with some solid COP (change 0f pace). Some quick hitters to the big WR's, and then a quick long ball attempt to keep their "D" honest.
Hopefully Big Red can actually create a disturbance from the edge that will allow the LB crew to play ball. In my mind, the improvement in the DB's will have an opportunity to showcase some of their special skills if the front can force them to react quickly, instead of having all day to look for an open WR, that has ALWAYS killed us, and until that day we are able to force the issue up front, we will always be playing their game, and ketch-up ball...

Thank you, Mr. Huet. I understand Leroy will face more suspensions. I think he will be suspended again, but will it be next year? Damn I thought this was over. I could not bring myself to relive the 05 season, maybe its time to watch that DVD.
Matt if I would be so bold, your posts are more in line with this blog then others.

Let's be honest though, #14 makes sense. Lofa has been hurt, Hill has never had a healthy season and is facing all of these charges/suspensions, Curry had an underaceiving season last year and Hawthorne/Herring have yet to prove themselves as true starters eventhough they have more than shown the potential.
Given the circumstances I think #14 is about right. IF we had a healthy, problematic-free LB core with Curry living up to expectations our ranking would be much higher. Give it a year and we'll be much better on that front.

Addicts...
I love this site and check it multiple times a day but I hope you guys are ready and in "Mid-Season" form once camp opens in a week and a half! We all know there is not much in the way of news but there has to be something to update or toss out for debate besides Leroy getting his 1 game ban on Friday morning. In any case, does anybody have any updates if the Hawks are going to the Chester Pitts workout here in AZ tomorrow? Hell, I'll go and see if the big guy can hack it for another year or two if they'd let me! Also, any word on Golden Tate inking his deal? I need football! Maybe I am just sick of this 115 degree heat and the fact the Mariners are again, proudly rebuilding since 1977. Thanks!

I am with you 12th man in AZ, when are we going to hear about the last three contracts getting done. I thought that it was a priority have your draft picks signed to give a first year coach all of his weapons for training camp. By weeks end I hope that Tate will have signed, but we need the other two done asap as well.
Damn this has been a long off season. I know that training camp is right around the corner, but I can't wait.

It's not uncommon that the early round draft picks sign real close to training camp. All I hope for is that no one holds out into any part of training camp so it doesn't affect thier season.

To me, that's a great thing. He's still a monster of a LB and we could use him desperately in our D. I just hope Hawthorne's agent doesn't start getting shifty and trying to find him another team.
