That's the rumor circulating. David Kaplan, a Chicago area sportscaster, is tweeting that he has learned Warner will announce his retirement on Friday. Jason LaCanfora started it off by giving the date of the presser, and intimating that the decision for Warner is that he will retire:
Guess it is conceivable Warner changes mind before Friday, but everything I am hearing indicates plan is to retire.

the division is gonna be up for grabs next year, unless Arizona gets a new qb.

Well even though he's played for teams we compete against in our division he's a helluva QB, I'll wish him well. Let's hope he doesn't start pulling a Favre. One of those is annoying enough!

Warner was one of the best to ever play the game, he's a warrior and a champion. If the Hawks had Warner instead of Hass through the weak division/NFC era, we would probably be a dynasty team right now.

Hawksfan80, I totally agree with you. I also hear that Hasselbeck is responsible for AIDS and eats puppies (totally sarcastic). But seriously man, every post you bash Matt...
This will create quite a vacuum in the NFC West and with anyone potentially filling it, at least for the short term since no team has a long term solution at QB. I mean Leinart and Smith suck and Bulger and Hass are old and at least statistically suck, though they are talented QBs. There is going to be a race for QBs in the next two drafts for sure.

Kurt Warner is a great quarterback and a better man. He will be in Canton at some point. We lost the division to the Cards almost simply because of his rapid emergence in Arizona's system. I wish him well.
In other more disappointing news - Chris Terry was arrested on some pretty serious charges today. (per Danny O'Neill) http://www.footballnewsnow.com...n-charges/

I'm not going to pass judgment on Alex Smith just yet. Despite his bust out of college and not starting the first part of the year, he did pretty well. You don't take the running game of Gore away and become a pass 1st team like they did when Smith became the starter because he sucked. Sure he tossed up 12 INT's but sitting on the bench that long and being tossed into that situation will do that. I think he will actually develop just fine. He did a hell of a lot better than Sanchez, that's for sure... haha

It's all over the radio down here in PHX. Nothing seems "official" but a lot of nervous sounding Cards- homers breaking the potential news.

That just might make this a three way horse race...
Hawksfan80, just what IS your problem with Hass? He's been a good to very good QB for us for many years. Is he, or has he ever been, an elite QB? no, but there are no more than 3 or 4 of those in the league at any given time...Was he the next level down? Yes, he was for most of his career. Last year, bad as it was, when he actually had a pocket to throw from, he still looked like his old self. A 75 QB rating may not be particularly good, but when you consider how little time he had to throw and how little room in which he had to work, (and that, IMHO, is more important than a lack of time) 75 is actually pretty damn good. There aren't but a half dozen QB's in the NFL who could have done as well under those conditions. Dirty Sanchez, under those conditions, would have been doing well to have a QB rating of 25...I'm not saying that Hass is great, but he's in the top third of the NFL, and the best QB the Hawks have ever had...

Retirement sounds likely. I believe this year, the last year of his two-year extension, would have him dropping from around $19 mil to $4m. That had to factor into his decision.
Gotta make the Cardinal fans worry, and that's a nice thing.

hopefully with warner retiring this will quell any further rumors of leinart coming to seattle. i have nothing but respect for warner. and i agree that he should be a first ballot hall of famer. he took to two dismal teams to the superbowl and won one. so yea, i think he's really good.

Chris Terry was always a thug. Thats a large part of why Seattle cut him.

Warner has always found a way to destroy the Seahawks since the Rams.. I'm glad he's gone, regardless of his good guy image and character. Doesn't make me hate him any less!
Hope its true for two reasons.....

.....1. now I dont have to worry about the Cards trading "party boi" to us. Hated that rumore when it was started.
2. Arizona is going to sux. lol
Am I the only that thinks Kurt would could be a fantastic QB coach? is that a far reach???
