Mike Sando at ESPN.com is reporting here, and per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, that the Seahawks have interviewed Rams assistant offensive line coach Art Valero  for an unspecified job. Valero worked with Gus Bradley in Tampa Bay years ago. At this point no one is sure why he was interviewed and what position he could possibly have with the organization. Most of the Rams coaches that Steve Spagnuolo hired his first year have remained with the team.

Update: Sando just updated at ESPN with this:

"Valero was with the Bucs when new Seahawks offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates was there from 2002 to 2004. Bates was with the Broncos under head coach Mike Shanahan from 2006 through 2008. The Seahawks' new offensive line coach, Alex Gibbs, was with Shanahan from 1995 through 2003.

That helps explain how adding Valero, possibly as assistant offensive line coach, could make sense for Seattle."

Art Valero has also coached running backs for Rams which makes his skill set more interesting in that mix. He could assist with our Oline and help the line understand the needs of RBs.

Please God, not another offseason where all the football coverage is devoted to Brett Favre's dithering!

I thought Favre played one hell of a game. The pick was bad, but thier kicker sucks from that range anyway. I dont see how one cant admire Favre for the way he kept playing despite the beating he was taking. His line didnt do squat, and Hutch looked especially poor in pass pro! I have never seen NO D-line get such pressure so fast! They were in Favre's face in two-three steps!

Minnesota's offensive players really need to focus on not fumbling. I couldnt believe how many times they put it on the ground--four drives in a row! Without that, they win easily.

As long as Favre doesnt dither, I will be glad to see him come back. I hope he wins the big one next year.

And folks, that call being upheld as a catch was utter BS! I played WR badly in HS, and let me tell you that was no catch. I cannot believe the nFL did this again! Shades of Super Bowl 40 all over again. I hate to see any team get in the Super Bowl on a bad call. The refs handed the game over to NO on that one.

Its getting harder and harder for me to have any respect for the NFL with Goodell holding the reins. I just cannot believe how much poorer the officiating has become since Tag left.

I'm no Favre fan, but I agree that he showed giant gonads in playing through the injuries and pain.
The turnovers killed the Vikings. You can't comeback from that.
I also agree that the officiating was questionable at best. I hope the league doesn't become the NBA with its arbitrary calls.

I'm no fan of either the Saints or Vikings, but I will agree, Favre played really tough, and Hutchinson looks old and injured now, and played pretty horribly. Got his ass whipped is pass pro constantly, and was not getting off the line on his run blocks well. Cleary injured, but he has been on decline the past 2 years overall now.

Also, the officiating did suck, that pass interference call was huge, giving the Saints another 15 yards field position, and yet I recorded the game and watched it from multiple angles over again, and the defender never even made contact with the receiver. He fell down on his own accord while twisting backwards to try and stretch for the overthrown pass. The defender didn't turn around, but he didn't faceguard or make contact either, so it wasn't P.I. at all.
Officiating

Overall the officiating was typical, I can't remember the last time a big game was not effected somehow by a bad call. But there were bad calls on both sides (maybe works out in end?) all those lame personal fouls for hitting Favre for example, most were pure clean hits. Nevertheless I agree that it sucks that a team would reach the SB (or win SB ala Steelers) because of blatant bad calls.

Actually, given the way the NFL has been throwing roughing the passer flags, I thought NO should have had several more penalties in that regard--especially the low hit that hurt Favre's leg: The rules dont care if the defender cannot see that the qb has released the ball--if the ball has been released and you continue to the qb and hit him you get a penalty. To me it looked like the defender could have and should have held up. But hey, its football.

My point, I guess, is that the officiating on a particular penalty should be called the same for all games, and certainly for both teams competing in the same game. And I havent seen that too often in Goodells brave new NFL.

Too many times this year, if a WR fell down, they just throw a flag at the DB. They did that to Tru three times this season by week 12. They did that to Minny last night.

And I still cant get over the catch that wasnt. It was CLEARLY a trapped ball. The guy never had posession until the ground helped him. No catch. No way, no how.

Like I told another fan, that game was my Super Bowl. I like both teams (Minny only due to Favre) and dont even want to see Manning in another Super Bowl. Yecch!

We may have just watched the last game of the greatest QB ever.

Certainly the toughest. Though the argument for best ever qb has to involve Unitas, Staubach, Montana, Elway, Marino, and now Brady and Manning as well. But he's definitely up there.

Please don't call Favre the greatest QB ever. That title is between Unitas and Montana. Way too wild and unpredictable to be called the best.

Glad to see Drew Brees and the Saints finally get to the big one. I'm rooting for them, they definitly deserve it more than Indy. They hung in NO when they probably should have left for greener fields, while Indy had to steal an NFL franchise...

Add Bart Starr, Ken Stabler, Dan Fouts and Troy Aikman to the list of nominees.

I'd take any one of those four (and most of the others already mentioned) over Favre, whose game-ending INT was as typical of his career as his many TD's.
