Two long snappers signed in one day? According to TSN here, Pat MacDonald from the Winipeg Blue Bombers has agreed to terms with the Hawks. In 2007, he was signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent, the same year he was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the third round of the CFL Draft. The 6'2, 265-pound MacDonald signed with the NFL's Carolina Panthers in 2008 but was released by the team. He is also a defensive lineman.
It appears that General Manager Schneider is hard at work already trying to fill holes on the roster and has started with one of the hardest positions to be filled on the Hawk's roster for the past four years.

Riggle: I wonder if we will franchise one of our new long snappers.
Ha...I bet that'd make the league do some extra work to even find out what the average of the top 5 long snappers in the NFL even is.

WTF....Long Snapper is a tough position to be good at because it is all about consistency, especially seeing as how the Hawks will be punting and kicking a lot this year.
Sign Dante Stallworth now so we can unload Branch for a draft pick from Josh McDaniels.

I notice that both long snappers have also played D-line. Perhaps these signings have something to do with trying to get a dual-purpose long snapper so that we get D-line depth as well. That would potentially save a roster slot.

Donte Stallworth sucks. Most people seem to forget that.

Agreed, Stallworth does suck. Just because he'll come on the cheap doesn't mean he would be worth it. There's probably at least a dozen other UFA receivers that I'd rather have.

PTI reported yesterday that Reggie Bush is due to make $8M in '10 and $12M in '11 and that the Saints may very well cut him. Brees is a free agent, he has lots of targets, NO can't afford to pay Bush $20M to be part time threat.
Rumored 3 targets, Detroit, one other and Seattle where he would rejoin Pete Carroll.
Think Bush would look good in the 'Hawks backfield alongside Forsett? Or split out, catching passes from Hass? He caught 89 passes his first year, add him in alongside Carlson, TJ, Burleson and Butler/Obamanu - how do you cover them all?

Back in 2008, we carried two kickers when we had long snapper issues. We should have carried two long snappers.
I wonder if we will franchise one of our new long snappers.
