The Seahawks have gotten down to two finalists for the GM job, and the reports coming out of Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network is that Floyd Reese is one of them (Brian McIntyre of sea.scout.com reports the second is Omar Khan).
One of those two men will be your next general manager, ladies and gentlemen.
Floyd Reese was quietly the front runner since Pete Carroll was named head coach. He has a ton of experience scouting and making personnel decisions, and worked with Carroll in the 1980s on the Vikings defense. Look for Pat Kirwan to still be brought on in some capacity. In the mean time: Go Floyd!
I don't see Khan making a lick of sense, as he is basically the contract guy. Only thing I can think of is that Idzik's job might also be somewhat up in the air. The Steelers have been very good with cap control and resigning key cogs without breaking the bank.

I like the idea of taking talent from both the Steelers and Patriots.
Just wish the Hawks could figure a way to take from the Vikings.

I still believe Mora was wronged by the Seahawks, but if we did it to get Floyd Reece and Pete Carrol... Sorry Jim.

Reese makes a hell of a lot more sense--you shouldnt pass up good personnell evaluaters.
Hiring both sounds good--but perhaps too many cooks spoiling the soup?

I really like Carroll's role too. I think that the coach has to have a lot of say in what type of players he will get through the draft and F.A. For example, Pete says we need an explosive RB like CJ Spiller. Then the GM, presumably (hopefully) Reese can reply and say something like "I think we can get what you are looking for out of Jahvid Best or Joe McKnight for better value. Here's my scouting reports Pete, what do you think?" At that point they come to a decision together based off of the coaches need and the GM/Scout's evaluation of how to fulfill that need with a mediator in place if necessary. That sounds like a pretty good model to me.
Leiweke is still there because he and Paul Allen work well together and this in my opinion is evidence of that.

Signs pointing to Reese as GM in Seattle
Posted: January 14th, 2010 | Jason La Canfora | Tags: Floyd Reese, John Schneider, Marc Ross, Omar Khan, Paul Allen, Pete Carroll, Seattle Seahawks
There continue to be indications that Floyd Reese, the most experienced of the finalists for the general manager job in Seattle, is the favorite to land the position.
Reese has already had contact with owner Paul Allen, according to a source. Reese already has worked with new coach Pete Carroll in the past and has deep roots with him. The other candidates believe Reese will get the job.
The Seahawks have completed the interview process, which Carroll was a key part of. The other finalists — Omar Khan, Marc Ross and John Schneider — are younger and have not served as GMs before. Several had impressive interviews, according to sources, but there is a sense among that group that it very well will be Reese’s job.

Nice job Ruskell. Is it any wonder you are unemployed?

I do agree that Carroll deserves input into personnel decisions. I also agree that cleaning house and making Carroll part of the process (if not the decider) is the best way to prevent future in-fighting and the dysfunction it brings.

I don't know, Farmer, that sounds like the same ol', same ol' we've been hearing... trade a big sack of crap for a Pro Bowler. He claims a "member of the Seattle media" as his source... the same Seattle media that had no clue the team was pursuing Carroll. I'll believe it when I see it.
Sando is getting a lot of mileage out of this one.

Pharmacist Hasan Ukra, who works in the flagship Boots store in London's Oxford Street, said: "Wearing these kind of boots could increase the risk of fungal infections due to the uggs outlet moist environment created.
"And I've seen a marked rise in ankle sprains due to the soft and comfortable nature of the boots."

The Seahawks haven't exactly been great with the cap and their free agent strategies in recent years. And while Floyd Reese is great talent evaluator, we all remember the CAP HELL that Ten had to escape, its how they got Vince Young. They had to cut everybody that year to clear it up. Kahn and Reese could work in concert to form a very strong front office. Its not clear what would happen with Webster and Idizk, but they could both stay as #2s. Pat Kirwan sounds as if he will be Carroll's adviser/confidant but have not real title. All of this could form a very strong group. I hope i am right. IF they want them both, Paul Allen is likely to make it happen. You can get anybody comfortable with their official title if their paycheck pays em like the one they wanted.
