Jason LaCanfora has got two little tidbits for you this morning. First, if Pete Carroll does not end up being the head coach (which "all signs point to"), Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox is the next target. It was reported by Schefter today that the last year of Fox's contract is voidable by the coach, which is rare. Still, Pete Carroll is a virtual certainty, so don't get too excited about Fox.
The second bit by LaCanfora concerns a new name in the GM search: Pittsburgh Steelers executive Omar Kahn. Who is Kahn? LaCanfora says:
Khan, who has strong ties to the Rooney family in Pittsburgh and has risen to become a key figure in that organization, has also been long tabbed by former Steelers coach Bill Cowher as someone he would want to lead his personnel department whenever he returns to coaching (Cowher is not interested in any vacancies at this time, according to sources). Khan has the title of Business and Football Administration Coordinator and handles salary cap and negotiations for the Steelers.
LaCanfora also says that "New GM [in Seattle] will have roster control."
