Adam Caplan (of Scout.com) is reporting that a source has confirmed that the Seahawks will hire Sherman Smith to coach running backs. Smith was the offensive coordinator for Jim Zorn's doomed-from-the-start Redskins the past two years, but before that had coached Tennessee's running backs for something like a decade. This essentially completes the coaching staff hires:
Offense
- Jeremy Bates - Offensive Coordinator
- Alex Gibbs - O-Line coach
- Jedd Fisch - QB coach
- Pat McPherson - TE coach
- Kippy Brown - WR coach
- Sherman Smith - RB coach
Defense
- Gus Bradley - Defensive Coordinator
- Dan Quinn - D-Line coach
- Ken Norton, Jr. - LB coach
- Jerry Gray - DB coach
Assistant coaches will likely be named soon-ish.
Sherman Smith was a running back for 7 seasons in Seattle when the franchise was in it's infancy. Welcome back, Sherman!
