Well before his acceptance of the head coaching job with the Seattle Seahawks, 60 Minutes spoke with now-former USC head coach Pete Carroll. In the following 12-minute feature, they painted a picture of not only who Pete Carroll is as a coach, but who he is as a human being. As noted in an earlier comment, the resulting production is a must-watch for all Seahawk fans:
It may be a little early to be getting excited, but this video has helped me start drinking the Kool-Aid. And don't get me wrong, as Chris has mentioned before on several occasions -- there is still reason for skepticism, and probably will be until we see the kind of coaching staff and team Carroll's crew is able to establish. Hell, the team is still searching for a new GM, after all. The question marks outweigh the facts, and it'll be that way for some time.
But the more I read about Pete Carroll, the more it appears the true embodiment of the term "winner" is now the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Being an Alum and Angeleno I am bummed about his departure... however growing up in the PacNW and being a diehard 12th man for as long as I can remember I'm overjoyed.
Rest assured this is a new dynasty beginning and the NFL will finally take notice.

As you can see, it's a huge risk for the Seahawks to undergo. Why, hawks? Why?

I think this is a great hire. I am excited. Don't discount the marketing aspect of this either. The Seahawks struggled the last few years and the excitement surrounding the franchise was starting to wane. Even those of us bitter about the last few years probably suddenly have renewed optimism now (and will open our wallets come season ticket time).

The real issue that needs to be addressed is the players. The hawks not only need a new o-line, they need a new QB, RB, and secondary. And I haven't seen any players actually own up and take responsibility for the season's failures. It seems to be all Mora's fault. What a joke.

The second largest market in the entire country is still without an NFL franchise. My beloved Seahawks just hired a superstar coach who has really made L.A. his home, one who's interests are very vested there.
I recall that in the Ken Behring/Tom Flores years, we were close to moving to L.A. or Anaheim. Paul Allen ultimately is a businessman and wants a high profile championship. Does Pete Carroll really want to come to Seattle, or does he know something we don't?
Just a thought.

Don't get me wrong, I'm obviously rooting for Carroll to right the ship. (It's especially painful living in Jets, Giants, and Pats country.) But I think in order for to effectively motivate NFL players, he's going to have to drastically change his demeanor.

Right now the LA job market and economy is crashing this new stadium was pushed through to create over 110 thousand jobs and generate revenue for the city. It was no easy fit getting past all the red tape even the govenator stepped in, in an effort to try and get this pushed through quickly. That being said there is no way the Hawks are coming here.
Keep Dreamin' Hawks Fans makes good points what he failed to understand or see is that having a coach with clout brings new talent and Pete Carroll has a scary eye for talent. So even if all the player pieces aren't there right now they WILL be there... hence the dynasty reference. It won't happen overnight obviously but I'm going to love making all the naysayers eat their words down the road. This IS the beginning of a new dynasty!!!
