Ever since the mysterious typo-laced tweet from Walter Jones on Super Bowl Sunday, the media and fans alike have had no idea how to respond.
Is Big Walt seriously going to hang them up in 2010? That's the question we're now pondering and speculating over, but ever since that tweet, that's all we've been able to do: ponder and speculate. Jones has not commented on the possible retirement issue ever since, and Danny O'Neil says Jones's agent hasn't returned any phone calls from the Seattle Times.
Nothing in the past 10 days has offered any clarification on Jones' status. Not Jones, who made no further posts. Not his agent, who has not return repeated messages from The Seattle Times. Not the team. New offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates answered questions last week, but when asked about Jones, he offered only compliments about Jones' accomplishments but didn't address the future of either Jones or the left-tackle position.
Obviously, with the possibility of the salary cap going away after another two weeks, it's a good idea for Jones to stay mum on the subject. The entire tweet was probably a questionable move at best in the first place, but such is the new standard with professional athletes and Twitter. The uncensored, unchecked and (in Walt's case especially) unedited nature of Twitter can lead to all kinds of upheavel in the life of a professional athlete, and I'm not just talking about OchoCinco. (Child, please.) Walter Jones hadn't exactly been a cornerstone of Twitter controversy like the "embattled" Bengals receiver, but I still think Big Walt would've been much better suited to wait for an official announcement. And that announcement would've been much better suited to have come after Super Bowl Sunday, the Combine and the future of the NFL salary cap.
But what's done is done, and #71 has left us all wondering what comes next. He's due a salary of $7.3 million next season, but the Seahawks don't have to pay him that total unless he's on the roster at the start of the season, as O'Neil also points out. That's a nice chunk of change, but again, it largely depends on what happens with the NFL in another couple of weeks.
I could come full-circle and futther exhaust the subject of the Seahawks' glaring and unignorable needs at left tackle, regardless of the small possibility that Jones could even return next year. But those needs are obvious and discussed thoroughly by now, so I pose this simple question to readers:
Is Walter Jones truly finished, or does he have enough left in the tank for another year with a new regime in Seattle?

As stated above, the 'Hawks should plan on his successor to play in 2010. If Jones can defy the odds, great. The team will be stronger for it.

1st #6- QB Jimmy Clausen Notre Dame
* Matt Hasselbeck is obviously ageing and without a oline
he is not the same as he used to be, we need to get our
franchise QB and have him learn behind matt for a year
atleast
1st #14- OT Trent Williams Oklahoma
*big school, one of the best prospects, 6-5 318 first team
all american, no way pete and co. can pass on him.
2nd #40- DT Terrence Cody Alabama
*Another big school, has alot of expierence, and obviously
we need the threat pass rusher, could be a real steal at
#40.
4rd #105- RB LeGarrette Blount Oregon
*I think Blount his very underated but his stock could get
raised till draft time, but he would fit fine in our system
with him and forsett with a 1-2 punch
5th #141- S Terrel Skinner Marland
*Not a bad senior game, but could raise is stock, he is a
big saftey that we could use.
6th #179- OG Jeff Byers USC
*USC guy, I cant see pete and co. pass on him
7th #217- CB Akwasi Owusu-Ansah Indiana (Pa.)
*The only negative about this is that it may be a small school
but he has great size, 6'1 205 pounds, we really need him
to survive in our division.
Anybody?

2008-

I guess I could be wrong tho. When the falcons were a mess a couple of years ago, People were sayin the same things that people are now saying about seattle, "A team with zero talent, A 3 year rebuild, Not alot to work with" and look what happened. One offseason and they make the playoffs. Ya never know.

1st 14th Mike Iupati G Idaho. The best interior lineman to come out in a long time.We need to protect Matt in the middle where the linebackers are always blitzing.
2nd 40th Charles Brown OT USC .Pete Carrol's guy will rotate with Big Walt this year on the left side.
4th 105 Dan LeFevour qb Central Michigan.Dan will compete for the second spot with Mike Teel.Seneca will be gone but we will hold out for Jake Locker next year.
5th 141 Charles Scott rb LSU.Sleeper pick will be a stud at the next level.Best RB nobody's thinking about.
6th 179 Chris Cook cb Virginia. This kid shined at the senior bowl and has the size the Hawks are looking for 6'2 212.
7th 217 Taylor Price WR ohio. This kid is 6'1 200 and runs a 4.33 forty.I will take the chance in the 7th round if he is still around.
7th supplement pick Freddy Barnes wr Bowling Green.Big time player small school.
7th supplement pick Andy Mattingly olb WSU.We need help on special teams and a liitle more depth at linebacker.May make the team but will probably be put on the practice squad.

My speculation is that he is taking lessons from the retirement master; Brett Favre. What Big Walt really wants to do is to play out his senior year(s) along side of Hutch again; perhaps ending his career in another Super Bowl.

I like Morgan's motor, but what are your thoughts on him underperforming against top end LT's? That's a HUGE red flag to me and the reason that I don't even really like him at #14. Bulaga handled him in the Orange Bowl and if you had never seen Morgan play before you would have thought he was a 4th or 5th round prospect at best.
So the question is, is Morgan really overrated or is Bulaga the real deal? My person opinion is that it's a bit of both. Morgan's still a legit 1st round talent but definately not as dominate as some make him out to be and Bulaga is an elite LT prospect, but probably not the best LT in the draft.
