The road loss to the 49ers today was bad enough, but the leg injury sustained by Deon Butler in the 4th quarter sounds a lot like what happened to Leon Washington last season.
The injury was bad enough that 49ers coach Mike Singletary was compelled to visit Butler in the locker room immediately following the game. Receiver Ruvell Martin, who had an impressive first-quarter touchdown from out of nowhere today, later told reporters what he saw after Butler went down.
"You can see something sticking out of his leg, so it didn't look so good," Martin said. "He just looked at me and goes, 'My leg.' All I could do was just give him my hand and say a prayer for him and try to comfort him as much as I could."
Butler will obviously miss the rest of the season and hopefully be back on the field by training camp in 2011.
