John Clayton just reported that Rob Sims has signed his RFA tender, indicating that a trade is likely imminent. Hopefully the Hawks can get something worthwhile for him, but with Mora publicly stating that Sims wasn't going to be a Seahawk, we might see his value diminished a bit. Either way, we wish Sims the best. He got a bad wrap for much of his time in Seattle, but was probably our most effective and consistent lineman last year. He just isn't quite what Gibbs has in mind for a zone blocking lineman. The majority of Sims' success last year came at a time when the key zone blocking elements were largely dropped in order to be more effective.

Good luck to Sims, and good luck to Schneider + Co, hopefully bringing someone solid in. Chances are strong that Sims will be headed to the NFC North, either to Detroit or Chicago, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Packers have been quietly in the mix as well -- their line was awful last year. An extra fourth would be phenomenal, but if it's the Lions, I would expect their fifth round pick (since it's right at the top of the 5th). A player could be involved as well or instead, but it wouldn't be anyone too eye catching.
