The Seahawks looked very sloppy thus far today, but are clearly playing much better than the Rams. Highlights of the first half:
- Matt Hasselbeck is 16-24 for 155 yards and two touchdowns. That's the good. The bad is that he's thrown two interceptions and another 4-or-so near-picks. Still, he started clicking in the second half, and thats a good thing.
- The defense hasn't looked stellar, but they've looked good. They've held the Rams to 92 total yards of offense in the first half, split pretty evenly between rush and pass yards. Jackson is averaging 3.5 yards per carry.
- Speaking of running backs, Julius Jones is looking okay. 12 carries for 37 yards. Lets see if Knapp's promise of wearing down defenses is true, if so, expect another 50-70 yards in the second half. If not, look for me to gloat.
- We saw a trick play! Hurrah! Seneca was in the wildcat, lateraled to Matt Hasselbeck who then threw it across the field to... Seneca! Sen ran it for 24 yards. Bingo bongo, bay-bay.
- Burleson looks awesome, other than that stupid fumble. 6 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown (and a fumble lost).
- And of course... the field goal block that wasn't. The Rams threw 12 men on the field, blocked a kick, ran it back for a touchdown, then had it overturned. As DKSB pointed out, "the 12th man thing is metaphorical."
- The 12th Man in Qwest is absolutely dominating. I'm counting about 5-6 penalties / mistakes in the first half based on the crowd noise. I love the Seahawks, and I love, love, love being a Seattle Seahawks fan!
If the Hawks can really start clicking on offense and defense at the half, this could become a blood bath really quick. As it stands now, this game is far from being over and its far from being marked in the "Win" column.
