Players to Watch - Week Two  E-mail

There ain't nothin' better than a Sunday Football Game! Who are you watching today? This is my list:

  • Cory Redding - With Mebane potentially sitting with an ankle injury, look for Redding to fill in more than usual at three-tech on passing downs, while Red Bryant could well get more time on the rushing downs (think about that: Colin Cole next to Red Bryant in the middle... I dare you to run!). Mebane is the best DT on this team, but Redding can fill in. Can he contain the run and get pressure on the QB?
  • T.J. Houshmandzadeh - Can Housh shove a copy of Madden down Mike Florio's throat? With the 49ers certainly focusing more on John Carlson today, look for Housh to get free in the middle much more often than last week. Look for 8 catches and nearly 100 yards from Housh.
  • Julius Jones - Jones had a good game last week, aided by breaking free on a 62 yard run. I'm looking for fewer rushing yards from Jones today, but him and his RB complements could well end up with more yards via the passing attack.
  • Walter Jones - Will he be out there? I have to lean towards no, but anything is possible.
  • Lawyer Milloy - He played one snap last week, he's going to play many more this week I think. He is a run specialist and when we're stuffing the box, look for him to be out there stuffing it. This should be his first time getting a real shot in the Seahawks defense, hopefully he can crush Gore!
