The hot topic of the day amongst Seahawk fans is undoubtedly the new alternate Lime Green jerseys. After about 24 hours of voting, the Addicts are in favor of the new jerseys, with 26% calling them gruesome and about 21% still undecided. I am decidedly in the "Awesome" party, and here are some reasons why.

  1. The Seahawks get nothing but disrespect from the media and the NFL. You can barely count the times someone in the national media has referred to our uniforms as "Green" anyway. To me, this is like a gigantic middle finger saying "Oh yeah, we'll show you green!"
  2. The uniforms are actually pretty cool. I'm wearing one right now, in fact, and they do not look as utterly ridiculous as they have appeared in a lot of pictures. I mean, sure they're a bit obnoxious, but see #1 for why that's okay.
  3. The Seahawks need a little mojo right now. We've got a whole lot of injuries and have been battling them for two years. We're missing 8 starters and at least two replacement starters, it would appear. What harm is there in tossing a goofy jersey out there? I see none.
  4. It's just one week. If we win today, these jerseys will likely show up a couple more times, but hey, if we pull out a victory today, maybe it's worth it?
  5. It seems that one of the biggest arguments against these jerseys is that people would prefer our throwback jerseys. Okay, fair enough, but that is off the table for today and for this season. You have to submit the alternate jersey to the NFL in the prior year, so clearly we aren't about to see it this year (you can only have one alternate). So, hey, why not embrace this one for the year and start the petition for 2010?
