TJ Houshmandzadeh is reportedly OK after missing practice most of the week due to back spasms. Housh practiced today and should be good to go in San Francisco on Sunday.
However, as Mike Sando reports, Brandon Mebane's status is less certain. Red Bryant's active status for this week is probably due to Mebane's calf injury, but Big Red's presence will help stop Frank Gore from busting big runs down the middle. The pass rush should still be healthy with Aaron Curry and Daryl Tapp active, and should have a productive outing against the relatively inexperienced Shaun Hill.
Lofa Tatupu, along with Mebane, is listed as questionable on today's practice report. Having Leroy Hill out for up to six weeks is already a blow to the defense, but also having Tatupu out would be even worse. Will Herring and D.D. Lewis have proven themselves to be reliable backups, but Tatupu is one of the smartest players in the game and is not easily replaced.
Ideally, Tatupu and Mebane will be good to go for Sunday, but it appears both players will be a game-time decision that morning.
