I'll make this short and sweet Addicts. The regular season for the Seahawks is here at last and before I head over to the American Legion here in Anchorage to watch the game with the Midnight Sun Sea Hawkers, I wanted to try to put into words how I'm feeling right now.

First of all, I wish it was my rear end that would be sitting in my season ticket seats today but my brother will be in those seats with his wife. I won't get a chance until October but I'll be all over the game from Anchorage on TV.

This is probably the most anticipated season since Mike Holmgren took over in 1999 when many of us thought the long drought of Seahawk failure was about to end (and it did eventually). Jim Mora has certainly brought us a sense of excitement and the promise of an aggressive team who will play not only to win but to crush opponents. For those of us who were tiring of Holmgren's "play not to lose" approach, that's an exciting thought to bring into today's game. Well, the moment of truth has finally arrived and is about to unfold today at Quest field. Mora will open the playbook and use what he needs to win which may not be much more than we've been seeing in pre-season. Against the Rams today, I expect to see more aggression in the defense at the very least as well as hard running and the effective use of play action from Hasselbeck.

Ruskell has been criticized by some for initially developing a light speedy defense that got pushed around in less than ideal conditions like the blizzard in Green Bay and wasn't built for long stints on the field which our offense required because of their inability to sustain drives. Forget that now as the Seahawks have the second heaviest front seven in the NFL this season among starting defenses. They should be built for the long haul and remain stout regardless of field conditions. The offense has promised us the ability to be able to attack any opponent's weakness and tailor themselves to run or pass as the game dictates. Today we begin to see if those promises will hold water and if the 2009 Seahawks can live up to the hype.

Here's the expected lineups for the Rams and Seahawks. Here's some Seahawk's pre-game media to browse through if you're looking for something to do to occupy your mind until game time. Here's Danny O'Neil's piece from the Seattle Times and the News Tribune's contribution from Sunday morning. Enjoy.

I have to admit, for all my optimism, I'm still a bit nervous about the reality of what the team will put on the field as opposed to all the glorious things we've been saying will happen when they hit the regular season lately. However, I've firmly glued my butt to the bandwagon with my recent articles and predictions and I'm not about to try and break that bond now. For better or worse, I'm shooting for 16 - 0 starting with today's blue wave rolling over the hapless Rams. I say Hass's posse will light it up and Warren Moon's dubbed "DHawks" will shut Jackson and company down and transform St. Louis from mighty Rams to meek little lambs.

Assclown will rue the day he thought he was going to a winning franchise from the Seahawks. Let's all give Josh the welcome he deserves when he takes the field to kick. He gets all shook up when he doesn't feel the love and now that he's not a slave to the businessman anymore, he needs to see what we really think of him. I'll be trying to make sure he hears my contribution all the way from Alaska.

You guys going to the game, be loud, be proud and show our new players what it means to be a Seahawk playing before their home crowd at Quest field in the regular season. Go Addicts, go Seahawks! Win pretty, win ugly, but win! Talk to you guys after the game. Watch for my post game comments. Everyone have a blast and enjoy the start of our favorite season. Play football!

Hasta,

BillT
