I thought I'd take a shot at predicting the 2009 final 53 roster just before it came out so here's the first annual end of training camp Bhawks. If I were the GM, there are the guys I'd go into battle with:

Offense (26)

Quarterbacks (3)

Hasselbeck, Wallace, Teel

Offensive Backfield (5)

Running Backs (3)

Jones, James, Forsett

Fullbacks (2)

Griffith, Schmitt

Tight Ends (3)

Carlson, Owens, Newton

Offensive Linemen (9)

Jones, Sims, Spencer, Unger, Locklear, Willis, Vallos, Williams, Wrotto

Receivers (6)

Houshmandzadeh, Burleson, Branch, Butler, Taylor, Obomanu

Defense (24)

Defensive Backfield (8)

Corners (4)

Trufant (PUP), Lucus, Wilson, Jennings, Hobbs

Safeties (4)

Grant, Russell, Babineaux, Adams

Linebackers (6)

Tatupu, Hill, Curry, Hawthorne, Lewis, Herring

Defensive Linemen (10)

Tapp, Redding, Cole, Mebane, Terrill, Jackson, Reed, Bennett, Kerney, Bryant

Special Teams (3)

Mare (K), Ryan (P), Houser (LS)

I think they get the extra defensive linemen slots by only keeping 6 linebackers. That means they keep Reed and Bennett both instead of Laury, and Atkins is the odd man out on the defensive line. I also think they go with 6 receivers because, despite the rhetoric on how few 3 and 4 man sets the Seahawks will use this season, the passing game is alive and well in the Seattle offense under Greg Knapp and they will want to have insurance at the wide receiver position. Let's see how close I come to the actual roster with the Bhawks. The only other twist I can see is to go with three corners (Lucus, Wilson, and Jennings), use Babs as the 4th (insurance) corner/satety, and bring back Laury as a 7th linebacker or Atkins as an unprecedented 11th defensive lineman. In any case, my bet is they keep both Reed and Bennett and they go with 6 receivers.
