It's the 8th anniversary in a date that undoubtedly changed your life in at least some way. Without getting political or sappy or angry or sad, Steve Kelley has a fantastic article where he speaks with Mike Teel, the Seahawks rookie QB from Rutgers, about that day. Why Teel?
Mike Teel Sr. had been on the George Washington Bridge, where he had bypassed sleep and spent the night investigating a fatal accident.
While on the bridge he saw the two hijacked planes fly into the World Trade Center, the Port Authority's headquarters. Quickly he finished his investigation and raced to Ground Zero, not knowing if he was driving into some kind of ambush. Not knowing if the Twin Towers would survive the impact of the explosions.
It is a great read giving a very unique perspective. Teel, then a sophomore in high school, did not know for 10 hours whether his father was alive. How did that affect him? His father? And, football-related, how did it affect Teel's approach to the game? All are covered. Definitely worth a read, especially today.
