Slow Day Today  E-mail

The Seahawks have today off and practice will resume tomorrow. Here is a few links below to pass some time for you today. As always, we will keep you up to date with any news that comes out of Renton.

Sando has a great write up regarding the NFC West offensive rankings here through week 4. I like where we are ranked so far but as Mora states, "I look at where we’re ranked statistically in the league, and I see us being productive." I think we have a ways to go, personally.

Help is on the way here (Thank God) with Hasselbeck coming back this week to practice.

Danny O'Neil is going to have his 12pm (PST) chat today so check it out and ask some questions.

Brian McIntyre at Seahawks.net has a play-by-play formation rundown for you to enjoy here.

Enjoy and have a great Hawk day!

hass to play?
written by chops, October 06, 2009
brother tim says on ESPN that matthew will almost certainly play against jax this week.

i'll believe it when i see it, but it's encouraging. i would actually prefer an 80% hass over 100% seneca at this point.

The way the offensive line looked, I'd rather hold Matt out.... I can't see him going in still hurt and subjecting himself to the pounding that he's going to receive.

Where are you Walt? We need you!
I agree with MotoJunkie

MotoJunkie, you may have a point. That Jaguars are not that great right now and we are at home. Should we limit Matt this week and hope that Senaca can do it for once or do we play Matt and let him warm up against the Jags as an appetizer so the Cardinals will be dinner and dessert?

I hope we start Senaca and bring Matt off the bench if needed . Putting him in with that ugly line and broke ribs is risky to say the least a desperate move. With the right play calling maybe he could survive. But wouldnt the Jags know that also and be setting on those plays?? WE NEED LUCK TO SHINE ON US and we are way over due.
Hold Hass out

With our joke of an O line Hass' chances of sustaining a career ending injury just shoot through the roof. He should not play until they show some degree of competency. Without even decent O line play, the season is hopeless anyways, and I'd rather see the backup QB who is good at running from DE's play than see our QB go down fighting in a lost cause

Hasselbeck hasnt played well in two years, not since the Redskins playoff game. He's hurting, and broken ribs dont heal in two weeks. And our offensive line is perhaps the worst in NFL history!

So my hope is that Hass sits and Knapp puts his faith in Seneca and calls plays to his strengths, not his weaknesses. Wallace is a better intermediate to long passer than Hass, and in the past has made some beautiful deep bombs right in the WR's breadbasket--something Hass couldnt do if his life depended on it. If only we had some pass pro! Still, the short routes Knapp has been calling all day dont work, its time to go intermediate and let Seneca run if the pass pro breaks down.

Putting Hass in will be a disaster. Let the man heal up, then go. Wallace did pretty well with the crap line and poor play selection he was handed.

S.TTBM, are you joking? Wallace hasn't hit a receiver more than 15 yards deep in a long time. He has the arm, but no accuracy. And because he is short, he has to throw looping balls up and over the line down field. Hass is a much more accurate passer overall.

Play Hasselbeck, he wants to play and we want him to play. If he sits and we lose our season is over, if he plays and gets hurt our season is over. I'd rather go down swinging than hope for the best. Matt must play!

We are at home we can win with Wallace.bring Matt off the bench,he has to make the passes in practice first so we may be jumping the gun here

Crazy idea, I know. But... I mean... am I the only one kind of wishing the Seahawks would put in Teel? I mean, if he is terrible and we lose, at least he's gaining experience. As you can see, I have absolutely ZERO faith in Seneca and would much rather see us lose giving the rookie a shot then seeing us lose because of Seneca Wallace. Who knows, maybe Teel will handle himself well. He did fine in Preseason and now he's got the rest of the first string offense to use as his weapons. I know it wont happen, and I'm prepared for the backlash, but still, in my head at least it sort of makes sense

No most of us would rather see Teel than Wallace, if only to see how he does against a starting defense. We more or less know what we are getting with Wallce, but Teel is a virtual unknown. He probably has a better arm than Wallace, I've seen Teel make every type of throw on a regular basis at Rutgers but he is VERY inconsistant when it comes to decision making, thats why he was a 6th round pick. He trusts his arm a bit too much.

I would be a litte hesitant myself to put him out there against a talented Jags secondary. Rasheen Mathis is one of the best corners in the league, Reggie Nelson is a young talented safety and they do have the All World Brian Russell LOL. But for real, I'm not sure this is the week we let Teel go in. Not in a do or die game.

Almost all my posts are about how much i'd like to see Teel. But Omar has a point that he's just too inexperienced against a solid D. What we Really need is for the 12th man to bring loud decibels.
Hass needs to play
written by hawkfan, October 06, 2009
An injured Hass is still 10X better than a healthy Wallace. We absolutely need to win this weekend to have any chance at anything. I know wallace can move, but he mainly has just been running out of bounds or throwing incomplete passes on the run. From watching him this year compared to years past, it seems like wallace has actually regressed. If Hass can give it a go at all, he needs to be in the game. It was stated all preseason long...our success depends on Hasselbeck being healthy and in the game. We cannot expect to win with Wallace at the helm any longer. Even Holmgren stated himself on KJR, your starting QB in the NFL is always going to be 9000X better than your backup except in those rare cases like warner and Brady. We need Hass to play period, end of story! I swear you can see our receivers getting frustrated on the field when Wallace throws errant pass after errant pass all day long. We cannot afford to lose this game and I think I speak for a lot of people that nobody feels comfortable starting wallace again this year.
Locker In '10
written by LouieLouie, October 06, 2009
Locker's best chance to stay in Seattle might be to declare for the 2010 draft. If he doesn't, he'll probably be playing in some dirty old Midwest town for the next 15 years.

I think we'd be a whole different team if Wallace just scrambled more.

We'd be a whole different team with Holmgren calling plays, or an offensive line that could block!

Seriously, you guys want Teel?! Thats nuts! They guy got better every game, but even Dan McGwire looked better in preseason his rookie year. There is a reason Teel was a sixth rounder, and he wont be ready to step onto an NFL field for a couple years, just like Hasselbeck in his early years.

With this crappy offensive scheme, and our lousy line, Teel would be annihilated and you would see what lousy qb play is. It also could ruin his confidence. ITs too soon to put him in.

And Wallace completed like 75% of his passes. How is that throwing incompletions?! Wallace did his job, protecting the football and not making turnovers. Hass has thrown the ball when across the line of scrimmage too, and Wallace only ran out of bounds stupidly once that I saw. And it didnt cost us anything. I dont think you can judge Wallace until he's had an entire year as the starter. Look how bad Hasselbeck was his first year starting as a third and fourth year player. He had to take his lumps and learn the hard way--but arent we all glad Holmy gave him the chance?!
