The Seahawks have a lot of injuries. None of those injured players, however, have been put on the Injured Reserve (ending their season). This has been looked at as a very good thing thus far -- why would you want someone to end their year? However, this little "benefit" of the injuries is starting to have a very adverse effect.

The Seahawks have no reserves. We are down to 0 extra linemen. As of yesterday, our next offensive linemen had any of the five suffered an injury (well, an injury worse than Kyle Williams' sprained knee that he played more than a half on) was to put Tight End John Owens in. Barring that, Red Bryant was next in line. Uh, wow. That's crap.

Worse, the only reason Kyle Williams was on the team was that we had brought him up the day before in a risky move designating standout DE/DT Michael Bennett to what would eventually have been the practice squad. Only problem? Bennett did not clear waivers.

So now, the Hawks have one less promising young defensive lineman. Worse, they got nothing for him and they lost him for a player who, in the long term, likely has no role on this team. Now, Michael Bennett may end up back on the Seahawks at some point, as Justin Forsett did last year. Rest assured, if any one of our myriad injured players were on the IR, Bennett would still be on this squad.
