After today's practice in Renton, Danny O'Neil asked Matt Hasselbeck how his first session with the team went since fracturing his rib in San Francisco Sept. 20.
"It was manageable," Hasselbeck said.
And as far as how he's feeling?
"I'm OK," he said. "Not bad.
Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace shared reps with the offense today, and will do the same tomorrow. It's hard to say for now how likely the chances are that Matt will be under center Sunday against Jacksonville, but the rest of the practices this week will determine that.
Even though the Jaguars have no pass rush to speak of and are allowing 21.5 points per game, it's a risky situation to put in your banged-up starting QB behind an equally banged-up offensive line. Wallace's mobility has saved him on many instances during games, but his decision-making and accuracy have been inconsistent. It's an inverse situation with Hasselbeck in, and his lack of mobiliity might be an issue, especially if the offensive line keeps falling apart.
However, if Hasselbeck feels OK enough to go Sunday, his quick release and excellent receiving options might be too much for a weak Jaguars' secondary. Jim Mora faces another difficult decision going into this game. Let's hope he makes the right one.

I realize that we don't have any stability at the Tackle position, but neither did Aaron Rodgers when he played MN this last Monday. However, Green Bay was smart enough to devise game plan that totaled almost 400 yards in passing. with our talent at wide receiver, i don't see why we cant accomplish the same. the caveat being, we need Matt throwing the ball. he simply makes better reads than Seneca.
I would rather have a 75 percent Matt than a 100 percent Seneca. All apologies to those who love Seneca.

Play Matt!

Compound this with an offensive line that couldn't protect a mobile Seneca at 100% and he doesn't stand a chance. If you want Matt in- you want crisp throws that dont get away from him. That's an injury free Matt Hasselbeck. As of right now (Wednesday night) Seneca gives us the absolute best chance to win. Furthermore, with a Jacksonville defense that allows over 21 points a game I'd let Matt take one more week to get ready for a game day (cardinals at home).
Bottom line, if Matt is 100% (he's not going to be) play him. If he's less than 100%, let him sit one more week- or you may risk losing him the rest of the season.

That means some pass rush. The run d, with the exception of those two gore TDS, has actually looked fairly decent.

Seneca has proven time and again that he cannot win. He might surprise us and win one of the next two but he cannot win both and without both and with only 4 home games left, there is no way to get to the 9 or 10 wins it will take to win the division.
The 'Hawks need to start Matt, protect him, get him to release as early as he can, win and move on to the Arizona game and win that, too. No Matt and you are looking at next year.

If he gets hurt then we know that we need to start looking at rebuilding. Senaca is not going to win us games unless he can grasp this offense and show some leadership
