The Seahawks have signed former UW standout RB Louis Rankin from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.
As Rotoworld suggests, Rankin's promotion may indicate Justin Forsett being moved off special teams and given more carries with the offense. But it could also mean the team wants to see what Rankin can do in a similar role in which they've used Forsett so far. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but either way, Greg Knapp would be well-advised to mix up the play calling a bit.

Illusion, Please your comment is not helping one bit.
Yes we lost Walt to IR, which is already reported! Duh!
We still need all the little news, you can problably expect some one (like Bill) to write a nice article about the end of a legend.
Some of the whining on here bothers me!

Rankin is simply awful. For those of you who had to witness him run the ball for UW, you know just how much of a turd he is. Signing him makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I am looking forward to seeing what Rankin can do. I watched him in college, and like Corey Dillon, I expect him to make a much better pro than he was a collegian.
Rankin has nice size, runs a 4.4 40, and seems the perfect back for a one-cut-and-go system. He lacks lateral quickness and agility, but as his 40 yard scamper against us in preseason shows, he can move if he finds a crease in the line.
Plus, with our rush blocking practically non-existant, we need a bigger body than little Forsett to pound it in there when we gotta have a couple yards. Thus, bringing up a young guy who is expendable like Rankin.
I dont see how he could possibly do any worse than Julius Jones over the last month.
