The Seahawks face their third divisional matchup today and it's a doozy. A win is of paramount importance, though unlike last week, this isn't quite make or break. A loss is devastating (3-3 is mountains ahead of 2-4, especially when two of the losses would be against division opponents), but it is not going to land the Seahawks on the 2009 Injured Reserve list. Still, how are we going to win?
- Protect Hasselbeck. The guards have the toughest job today, going against Dockett. Look for the Cardinals to attack the left side of this Seahawks line, with Vallos getting only his second chance at left guard in the NFL and Kyle Williams being Kyle Williams. Solari has no doubt whipped these guys into the best game-ready state they can be in. 60 minutes ain't too much to ask, is it?
- Front-four Pressure. In case you haven't picked up on it, when going against a good-to-great, very experienced quarterback like Warner, the key is to get pressure on the QB with the four men on the line. If Mebane has not been completely game planned for, look for him to wreak havoc in the middle while the ends do their work.
- Respectable DB Play. The secondary doesn't need to be great, they just can't be awful. If there is pressure on Warner, the job of the secondary is going to be a lot easier. If there is no front-four pressure, this is going to be a very long game (or a complete shoot out).
- Get some semblance of a running game. Again, we don't need anything too special from Jones & Co., but we have to keep them as a legitimate threat or we basically lose the play action threat.
- No Huddle, No Huddle, No Huddle. Come on! We run one of the best hurry-up offenses in the league, so lets keep incorporating it. We have the talent to run a simple offense. We don't need a bunch of insane tricks and craziness. Solid QB, decent line play, and good WRs. Stay up tempo and we can thrill.
