Exciting News And Where We Are  E-mail

So my wife, who is a school teacher up here in Anchorage, Alaska ,comes home tonight and says: "There's someone from the Seahawks who is going to come to my school tomorrow morning and have breakfast with the kids. It's Mike String or Mark Stran or someone like that." I suggested maybe Mack Strong and she said "Yeah, that's the guy. Do you want to come?"

Being a musician, I haven't been out of bed before 10 or 11 in the morning since, well, I can't remember when. Tomorrow though, I have the alarm set for 6:30 AM and hopefully, I'll be able to get a couple of minutes with the greatest blocking fullback the Seahawks have ever had sometime during his school appearance.

I plan to ask him first of all if he ever reads the Seahawk Addicts blog. I thought about what I would ask him if I only had one question and decided that I'll ask first if he can tell me what he thinks is wrong with the Seahawks. Is it the new coaching and new schemes that they're still not familiar with yet or is it all the injuries and playing without our top talent or are we just not as talented as we think we are and need to get better players on the team. Could it be that it's none of the above and there's another explanation? If I can get at least one question in, that's what I'd like to hear him answer.

When I listen to Mack being interviewed on the radio and even on his own show "The Mack Strong Show" on KJR, Mack is a very political analyst who never seems to finger anyone or say anything bad about any part of the team. He definitely stays in bounds. I'm hoping in person he might be a little more candid. We'll see what develops. If I come back skunked, I'll fess up to being a poor beat reporter tomorrow but if I score, then so do you guys and I'll write up everything that was said. It's an elementary school, so if he speaks, I doubt it'll be about the Seahawks and football so I'm just tagging along hoping to get a couple of minutes with him.

Stay tuned.

As far as the Colts game goes, it really turned out about as I expected. First of all, we were playing a team that has been put together piece by piece over the last few years and features one of the best two quarterbacks in the game today and one who will surely be a HOF quarterback and compared to Montana, Elway, and the other great quarterbacks when his career is over. The Colts offense is a machine reminiscent of the old 49ers with Montana at the helm. Although the defense isn't in the same league as their offense, it has quietly gotten to be a pretty good defense over the last three years. What chance did the Seahawks have playing on the Colts turf even if they were completely healthy? Admittedly, they would have probably given a better accounting of themselves but in the end, I saw that one as a loss as soon as the schedule came out and I'll wager that most of you did too.

I think a lot of us had the Seahawks pegged at 2 - 2 at this point with losses to either the Bears or San Francisco and losing to Indy. So after all the doom and gloom settles, we're only one game off the pace most of us thought we'd be running and injuries can explain the difference. I thought we'd be 4 - 2 at the bye, but I think that we'll be ok at  3 - 3 which is still attainable. We should be able to give both Jacksonville and Arizona a good game at Qwest field the next two weeks. With those two crucial victories in hand and games at Qwest still to come against Detroit, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, and the Titans, we can still be in the division title hunt by winning out at Qwest and scoring at least two road victories out of the six away games against the Rams, Cowboys, Cardinals, Vikings, Texans, and Packers. By taking care of business at Qwest, playing .333 ball on the road gives us a 9 -7 record, while playing .500 ball on the road would give us three of those road victories and a 10 - 6 season and surely the division title under that home field stand scenario. The Tennessee game at the end of the season could be for all the marbles and the Titans may be resting players.

This season's not over yet, but it really hinges on winning the next two games at Qwest Field and getting our players back after the bye to make a big push at running the table at home and finding a way  to win a couple of games on the road. If we do lose the next two games at home, I fear we'll have dug a pit so deep, we'll never get out of it. Even if we lose one of the next two, the hole will be deep enough that it will be unlikely that we could fight our way out. I'm sure the team knows that truism from the top of the organization to the bottom and will be doing everything possible to avoid being in that situation. We're not dead yet, but the buzzards are circling in the distance.

For what it's worth, I'll be attending the next two games at Qwest Field and doing my damnedest to bring home the bacon. If anyone wants to get together, let me know so we can make arrangements. Here's your chance to take a shot at Bill T. in person.

Hasta,

Bill T.

Congrats on your opportunity to meet Mr. Seahawk, Billt! Im jealous! I have always wanted to meet Mr. Strong.

Still, I think he has to share the title of best blocking back with John L. Williams. I did get to meet him, and he was a wonderful man. He was very kind to me and my sister, and autographed several cards and pictures for us. A real class act. From what I have heard, Strong is the same way.

Have fun meeting Strong, Bill. That sounds like a good time no matter what.

My wife and I are headed up to Seattle for the Jaguars game, so if you're interested in chewing me out for my editing (or lack thereof, depending on my health) here's your chance. Neither of us have been to Qwest before, so this should be fun.

Hey I'd love to get together. smilies/wink.gif

Can you let me know how to get in touch with you when you're in Seattle? I'll have a cell phone with me and magic jack plug-in on my computer (two separate numbers).

If you can send a message to the email address for me on the site, I can send you back a reply with my numbers. If I can get your numbers, we can be in touch down there and make plans on the fly. If you have time outside the game, we could maybe grab a meal together or something and if not, we can look each other up at the game for a brief chat or maybe meet at the pregame festivities. Let me know.
