Well I enjoy a Win no matter how. After the game was 0-17, we beat the lions 32-3. Great game, but we still have a lot of problems. At least we can still beat the absolute worst teams in the NFL, but we're not quite up to par with the good or mediocre teams so far this season.

wow i was scared! but minus the first two possesions we just destroyed the lions! My best is Hawthorne! Two interceptions and leading the team in tackles. What a great pickup. Not even missing tatupu. And my worst is our snapper. Which we have always had trouble with that position. We won but the botched extra point...thats pop warner stuff. Way to go special teams and Hasslebeck with his best game of the year! T.J. with nothing to talk about. Rankin looking sharp! Special teams did well. Would have liked more sacks but hey...a win is a win.

Loved the way that Forsett worked today too. He's quickly becoming my favorite player on the team. I've loved this kid since pre-season last year when he hurdled over a defender. Give this kid more carry's and how about a few touchdowns?? And as long as Housh continues to perform I can handle his mouth. Even if one of his biggest plays came from a Pass Interference...

We can't spot teams 17 points like we did the Lions. Against at least 25 NFL teams, we get spanked in this game. Only the Lions, Rams, Tampa Bay and maybe the Raiders let us back in this game.

Next week, 2 turnovers in the first 2 offensive plays, we get creamed. This team has a long way to go.

JESUS... freck'in Christ on a busted crutch.... I know it shouldn't have been, but that was intense.. my neck muscles are just knotted... up.

1st quarter was an abomination - the second half defense MUCH BETTER.

HOUSH... made a couple tough catches and a TD.. BUT DROPPED A second TD.. Nobody's fault but his.. THAT's ON HIM.. Could have had TWO TD's to his name..
This team has no future

Seattle's offense has regressed, while its defense grows. Detroit comes out of this game the better team moving forward.

What a sad state. We beat a team, barely (5 turnovers) that has won one game in two years, at home, and we celebrate. We are naive if we do not see how poor a team we are.

Arizona will destroy this team.

Just when I think we can get out of this mess they actualy ran some cool plays with Wallace. TJ catches some passes which covers his drop. The secondary steps up and covers are total lack of pass rush. But worse we win and failed in the red zone gave up big plays after scoring never secured the game untill Josh bailed us out... Idk I just want them gone. The fact is we lost our idenity and the only reason we won is because Mora is a man and gave the ball to Matt.TJ if you fucking open your mouth again may a million fleas infest your pony tail. Step up douche and don't fumble the next play if you catch it, we all want you to succeed so shut the fuck up. Knapp no excuses call ure plays and use the formation,Matt is the man. Dude defense does not need to be yelled at cuz your lil play cards were ineffective, dont fucking yell at our defense like at Colts ever, get to Warner simplfy cuz this is the team YOU have and Ruskell built, STEP up and a notch down. I mean about a quarter of what hawked said made sense, the rest might as well have been written on the side of a pyramid for all the sense that it made. Use some commas or periods or something as I'm sure you have something intelligent to say but its not making any sense.

A win is nice but that doesn't change the fact that the Hawks are in the bottom 25% of the League. They are not a good team. I would agrue that this win did more to hurt the recovery of this team than help (for the long term). Much like an economic stimulus, it is a falsehood that actually delays the recovery.

Has anyone ever seen one team look so different from quarter to quarter, game to game? I have no clue who will show up each week! Now we go on the road for three weeks in a row....thanks so much NFL. Why is it we never get the NFL's pretty boys at Qwest... Dallas there two years in a row, Minnesota there, Green Bay there, Indy there...for a league that talks about parity, the schedule makers insert a ton of East Coast bais!

Enough of that rant!

Did anyone else think it strange that with a 5 point lead we go for a pat instead of a 2 point conversion? What's with that?

With the quality of our linebackers why aren't we moving toward a 3 / 4 defense...Hawthorne is really a player and you must find a way to get them in for most of the plays.

That's it for now...nice comeback Matt...you are a stud!

Hawkboy14, Ken Lucas was out and did not play

Dog Chow, when the Seahawks scored that TD and were up by 5 points, they did not try the 2 point conversion ON PURPOSE (lol) because it was still in the 3rd quarter...you need each and every point, teams normally only do 2 point conversions late in the 4th quarter

Don't forget that these are the Lions. We did well and the result was what it should've been. This team needs to continue to work on its execution. Get the D off the field on third downs and improve our red zone. This was against a fairly weak Lions' defense and we could'nt punch it in 4 times in the red zone.

Overall, a win is a win and I'm glad we were able to get one. We really need to show up and play mistake free football next week.

Easily the best defensive player on the field when he gets the start. Stats don't lie. In three games started he's amassed 44 tackles, 37 solo tackles, 2 sacks, and 3 interceptions (nearly 4). The fact that he's done all this in three starts is incredible. HUGE trade potential for the 2010 draft. if he keeps it up we may get our 3rd rounder back, possibly gain a 2nd round pick if he keeps playing out of his mind.

Ok we came back from a 17 point deficit and got the win, for that I’m thankful. Flip side of the coin well it was the Lions enough said. I fear, at this point, we’re a lifetime away from beating the Cards, pass rush has to step up and O line has to start….. well, being an O line.

Next three road games are gonna need a lot of sacrifices to the “football gods” if we’ve to come away with a win or two. In reality I fear the worst

Main concern; we can’t run the ball for S**t.

smilies/sad.gif I'm worried. Reading through all the posts from yesterday, i'd say that i'm not the only one. I hopped on my ATV (yes it's warm again?), and went to my local sports bar that's always full of Bears fans. It was empty inside as they all left at halftime, they couldn't handle the blowout! I watched that game until the hawks were on and i hate to say it but the 'Tards are for real. Louielouie was dead on. We would be a pretty good team if we didn't spot our opponents 14 or 17 points at the beginning of every game. After the first few minutes it was 14-0 to one of footballs worst teams. I'm glad we won, but i didn't see it, like the bears fans before me i couldn't take it anymore and bolted. Seen it too many times this year already.
If we somehow get to Warner next week we might have a chance, otherwise you guys can inform me about our top draft potentials. We are actually a much better team than this WTF!!!

I agree with Montana Mike. We have a nice line up on paper. So why can't we play better? What was so different in 2005? Hutch? Walter? That was a fun game to watch though! Heres to drafting a new QB to groom and a huge and healthy left tackle. And Omar Little...I want my 10 seconds back. I'm not on this page to read your "clever" little put downs. Apparently you don't have anything inteligent to say about the seahawks, so what are you commenting about? (Did you see that awesome comma I threw in there? Hopefully you don't make fun of my comma use. I probobaly wouldn't be able to leave with myself you made fun of my grammar on a football blog website.) Are we in high school? So back to football, we need to draft a QB with our top pick in April. No one in this division has a future at QB so we need to take the chance to get a leg up on the future. I mean Warner is probably done after this season and I'll be surprised if Wiz sees Leinart as the future, Bulger is a bum and will be cut, and the Alex Smith/Shaun Hill combo doesn't scare anyone. This is the perfect time to get a future signal caller to groom and prevent him from going to our rivals, we can't let it pass us by.

The Hawks barely beat a bad team. We still have the same problems we've had all year--"We are who we thought we were" to mangle a phrase. Still, I cant help but enjoy a win. Especially since we might not see another one for awhile!

And it isnt like there werent bright spots: David Hawthorne had a great game, he is so much the better athlete compared to Lofa. Brandon Mebane caused havoc all day, and Kerney did ok. For those saying Curry sucked, I think he did fine, and has looked very good in several games this year. Plus, he got hurt and I didnt see him return (dont know if he did). Curry is still the best player in last years draft, and I think he's progressing nicely. His speed is awesome! Josh Wilson played much bigger than his size, and that game-ending pick was great! Deion Grant did very well--best game this year! And Jordan Babineaux seems to have had his coming out party as a real honest-to-God starting FS in the NFL.

On offense, after his retarded INT, Hasselbeck played fantastic, checking down and going through his reads without locking on Housh like I feared he would do. Housh made some very tough catches, and looked deadly serious doing it. Just about every pass catcher on the team caught a ball, and Knapp and Mora FINALLY began sending the WR's downfield--leaving Matt to throw underneath to the backs and TE's if the WR's were covered. I've been wondering why they werent doing that all year. McIntosh looked damn good at LT, and the line as a whole played pretty well. Julius Jones ran hard, and his pass-catching skills really shone. Even the special teams looked pretty good. Rankin looks like a keeper for his ST play alone. I hope to see him get in at RB for a drive or two next week to see what he can do. And how about HOush's blocking?! Oh, and Nate Burleson made a couple TOUGHT catches!

And the coaches opened up and even tried some nice razzle dazzle stuff that worked. WR's were sent DOWNFIELD, even when they werent getting open. Coaches resisted the urge to get too conservative for the most part, and the defense was pretty damn special after the horrendous first quarter.

As for the negative stuff, there was unfortunately a lot of that too. Next post.
...
written by S.TTBM, November 09, 2009
FOr the bad, its the same old song and dance. Nate dropped a couple passes, Housh dropped a TD every $8 million a year WR HAS to make, and Carlson looked lost and dropped several. The WR's werent getting open. The line was blown up so bad on that 4th and 1 I thought they were going to take the handoff from Matt. Griffith's fumble was horrendous.

On defense, the line play was inconsistent, and I didnt see LoJack do anything. Seemed like every time we got a sack or a run stuff, we gave up the first down on the next play. Lucas got beat for that TD.

The worst problem is still the offensive line, and the coaching staff. The line is what it is, hopefully getting Sims and Lock back soon will make a difference.

Mora gets credit from me at least for going for the fourth down, but seeing how Detroit lined up, the straight ahead dive play should have been audibled out of by Matt as it was pretty clear what was about to happen. Knapp still cant run a team from the Red Zone, getting conservative much too often--which cost us several TD opportunites (though Housh and Nate dropped TD passes that were in their hands--not Knapps fault) and was the main reason the game was close.

Gus Bradley REALLY needs to figure out how to run a defense in the first quarter. He did fine after that, but putting your team in a 17-point hole is utterly unnacceptable. I am tired of seeing wierd schemes where whole areas of the field are empty of Hawks--I cant count the number of times I saw that. Get it together Man!

This team still doesnt look even close to being able to compete with ANY team that has a winning record.

But enough of the bad. I am still really happy with the outcome, and there was so much good. Maybe it will be a small stepping stone for the team to build on. I am proud of the way they kept fighting and working thier way back into the game. That showed heart and grit and professionalism and passion, which can make up for a lot.

GO Seahawks!

Not to beat a dead horse, but have you seen Leonard Weaver playing for the Eagles lately? Why was he not resigned? I'll mark that up as a bad... former Seahawks playing well on other rosters, and doing it for less money that the guys we have signed. Of couse, with the line the FO has built, he wouldn't be doing that here either. How can a team as bad as Detroit force the Hawks to completely abandon the run? Pathetic. I want to be positive about the win yesterday, but I'm not foolish enough to think that the team has turned any corners. We barely beat a bad team on our home field.

I will fire & continue to hire washed up has-beens from the free agent market, while having my good friend Tim overpay them for poor production. We will use high draft picks on everything excluding the offensive line, quarterback, well, pretty much anything that has to do with the offense, cause, u know, I can build a dynamic defense that strikes fear into the other team. Together, we will continue to hire ours friends in an effort to rebuild the Atlanta Seahawks. Trust us! Give us a chance, so we can encourage success will not find the great city of Seattle ever!

The seahawks are not about to trade a guy we JUST gave a huge contract to because an unsigned free agent as 3 good games. I'm not discounting what "the heater" has done thus far, but he's not a Lofa Tatupu. That's just ridiculous to even entertain. Hawthorne will fetch a 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder in the 2010 draft, and we'll never get an equal trade from anybody in the league for Tatupu.

I'm glad you're not the one calling the shots.

STTBM,

All valid points in your negitive section, however I disagree with your assesment of Bradley's first quarter defense. With the lions only having about 30 total yards to get into the end zone every scoring drive in the first quarter that undoubtly made his job a lot harder. Also give the Lions some credit, that catch by Bryant Johnson was a very good one, they deserved that one. Outstanding catch.

Anyone else get a little worried when they saw Josh Wilson man up across from Calvin Johnson? Don't get me wrong, I think Wilson is a damn good corner who will only get better, but a 5ft9 corner against a 6ft5 wideout? Kinda scary. But we did a fine job of limiting the league's best reciever to only 2 catches. Although I don't get how we held Jason Witten to so little last week but let some rookie TE look like Antonio Gates, but I guess thats what you risk when you run the Tampa 2.

For those of you whining about Housh's drop, according to NFL statistics, including that one, he has a total of one (1) drop this year...on a pace for two (2) by the end of the season...would you really rather have Koren Robinson, Darrell Jackson or Jerremy Stevens? I like his fire, like his attitude, and most of all, like what he does on the field...Keep it up, TJ!

Hopefully, Knapp learned something yesterday...and that thing is that, right now, Matt's a better play caller than he is...hopefully, he continues to let Matt run the offense, while he (Knapp) learns what this team can and can't do...(one of the things this team can't do: run the ball straight up the gut into a loaded formation on fourth and one.)
Yesterday's performance showed that Matt is nowhere near done. 39 of 51? That's INSANE! Most good NFL QB's would be thrilled with 30 of 51...So they're dinks and dunks...dinks and dunks move the chains. Moving the chains keeps the other team's O off the field (not to mention our D) Matt just plain doesn't have TIME to take shots deep...he's got time for 1 and 3 step drops, and shotgun...that kinda limits him to dinks and dunks...and if he's hitting almost 80%, the other team is in trouble...
We don't need to spend an early pick on a QB this year, we've got bigger fish to fry (like LT, LG, RG, S, RB, just to name a few...)
hawthorne vs tatupu
written by hawksfanmsvl, November 09, 2009
Sure his numbers are great over three games- but he just isn't tatupu. Once again, Hawthorne is a great player that's going to fetch a HUGE trade value. Tatupu's value can't be matched by another team. maybe a 1st and 3rd round pick IF they were willing to pick up his contract with a TON of money guaranteed. Nobody will touch that even if the Seahawks were insane enough to entertain letting "the quarterback of our defense" go. The conversation is plain ridiculous.
