Just a couple things to keep you going on Apple Cup Saturday (Go Dawgs!).

  • Julius Jones will be a game time decision against the Rams. Why? What good does this team do by starting an injured Jones when you've got Forsett and Rankin aching to prove themselves? Either way, Forsett will get plenty of work, but for the future of this team, I think we are pretty much all hoping to see if J-Force and L-Ranky can play in this league.
  • Deon Grant said that his wrist will require surgery, but he wants to see how he plays this week and if the wrist is seriously screwed up. So, he'll play, but maybe not a whole game and maybe not beyond this week. I for one would love to see whether Jamar Adams can play. I know the team wants to win and Ruskell wants his job saved, but we have got to see young guys playing if we want any chance to win in the future.
  • Red Bryant is questionable with a sprained knee.
  • Cory Redding (knee), Chris Spencer (thumb), Craig Terrill (shoulder) are all probable for the game.
  • Josh Wilson was not on the injury report, indicating he will play. Phew!

As a veteran player, putting in the young guys when the season has turned sour sucks. It feels like the organization has given up on you. So, I have mixed feelings. I want to see the young guys play for obvious reasons, but it can drive a wedge into the lockerroom.
The Young 'uns.

They will get their chances to play. This team needs to develop the team as a whole, not individual players.

How the hell does Red Bryant always get hurt. I never see him play. Does he trip in practice? I thought he was going to be a very good lineman. Disappointed so far.

At this point we really aren't looking at anything out of the ordinary in terms of ongoing injuries. The first couple weeks it was bad, but now we are in the same boat as all the other teams, so the injury excuse is no longer relevant. It does interest me that, taken as a whole over time, it seems like Seattle has more and worse injuries than a lot of other teams.

Julius Jones probably will lose his starting spot, but not so we can get look at the younger players, merely because they have outplayed him every time they have been on the field. You should never lose your starting spot because there is a young guy behind you, but you should lose it because there is a better player behind you.
