The Seahawks not only were embarrassed yesterday in Green Bay but they were embarrassed around the league. They are laughed at now and considered at their lowest point in two decades. I never thought I would see the former Seahawk third string Quarterback Charlie Frye have a better Quarterback rating on game day then Matt Hasselbeck but that is exactly what happened yesterday.
I put together some links below for your reading enjoyment:

We all know how pathetic they are right now. We should be picking #1 the way we are playing.
And what is the hold up in picking a GM??? Let's get going on the rebuild, I'm tired of having nothing to look forward to or hope for. Getter done!

It's probably best to be patient at this point. There is a lot of rebuilding that needs to be done to the Seahawks Org. It wouldn't be wise to just rush into signing someone who is going to oversee the transformation of this team. I do think that holding Mora over the new GM is ridiculus. If the new GM wants new coaches, let the new GM have new coaches. Mora should be fighting for his job just like he say's the players have to do.

There are some good players on the offense. But they need the elite freak to take attention and demand respect. Sorry TJ, Julius, Carlson...you just aren't that much of a threat!
Will Butler become a threat? Odds are against it. Carlson is a very good player. I think Unger is going to be good, as well. But that offense needs a stud hoss to rally around. It'll take a few years to develop one, and purchasing one is a risky proposition. The only way to get around it, is to have a dominant defense. A top five defense. Proof is in the pudding. Mission: NOT accomplished!
At least we have two first rounders who may be able to develop into difference makers.

As far as the draft, I really hope we go after Charles Brown or Okung and then draft Spiller. Spiller is a stud and a game changer. The guy can flat out run. He will be the guy the other teams have to prepare for.

I have to bet that the criteria for hiring a new GM doesn't include keeping Mora any more. A new GM who can choose his own head coach, two first round draft picks, a great stadium to play in and the best training facility in the business, and the deep pockets of Paul Allen. Not too bad of a job.

it isn't that Matt isn't learning the system, it's that the system SUCKS, and Matt only has 1.5 sec to diagnose the D and get the ball off. Plus, right now, the offense is operating on zero cylinders, and Matt, being the total competitor that he is, is just trying to get SOMETHING, ANYTHING going. What, if he throws a pick, we might LOOSE? Nobody would look good behind that line.
And re: Arron Rodgers, the reason that he's the most sacked is that he tends to hold onto the ball too long. Matt has been sacked more than once on A ONE STEP DROP! I haven't seen the entirety of the last two games, but in what I did see, Matt NEVER ONCE had a pocket from which to throw. The line was collapsing around him as soon as he took the snap.
We need at least 2, preferably 3 new GOOD guys on the O line, we need a new HC, a new OC, a new DC, a new ST coach, and a couple guys with a real fire in them. Matt's got a couple years left in him if he gets a line worthy of the name. If we're going to use him in a Trent Dilfer role, he's got maybe 4 years. Unless Teel is the guy, we need to find a QB this year or next. Regardless of what happens, this won't be a one season fix. All we can hope for next year is "some improvement"...

you can't put all the blame on Hass any more than you can put it all on the OL.
Matt is old, the line sucks, and the Hawks do not have a single playmaker.... solid guys, yes, but not a truly explosive playmaker. Add it all up and you get a crappy offense. Add a mediocre D to that and you get 5-11 football.
The REALLY sad thing is, right now the only other options are Teel and Seneca. Doesn't exactly get the heart pumping, does it?

Knapp's offense is too simple, he is mostly rehashing stuff that barely worked 10 years ago. Just like Tom Flores and his coaching staff, Knapp's days as a competent NFL Coordinator are far behind him.
The longer Knapp stays, the worse its going to get. It will not get better.
The line is awful, and Hasselbeck is pressing and playing poorly. Thats true. It is also true that we have no number 1 WR, and I think its been proven beyond a shadow of doubt that Tim Ruskell was wrong, and every competent NFL offense MUST HAVE a true number 1 WR to compete. I also believe the world now knows that Matt Hasselbeck never was a great qb, simply a good one--and that he is a system qb; without Holmgren's WCO, he is not good. Thats no real knock on Matt, but its the truth.
We need a RB to take the load off Forsett and allow J-Force to shine as the change of pace/third down Dave Meggett back he is. Not necessarily a 25-carry a game back, but someone who can carry the ball 15-20 times a game and get the tough yards as well as break some long ones. Jonathan Stewart is what Im thinking. While J-Stew could be a 25 carry back, it would wear him out in 5 years. Nothing wrong with having a two back system, as long as it works!
And I do believe the zone blocking system needs to be buried. Let Solari coach what he knows, and get us back to power blocking with some big strong linemen with a nasty streak. It never stopped working for him elsewhere, so why are we trying to reinvent the wheel with inferior talent?!

163 carries, 602 yards, 3.7 average, 2 TDs
104 carries, 545 yards, 5.2 averate, 4 TDs
That's right: Jones on top, Forsett numbers below.
Now for RB receiving:
34 receptions for 229 yards, 6.74 avg, 2 TDs
39 receptions for 336 yards, 8.62 avg, 1 TD
In all, Jones has averaged 4.22 yards per touch, while Forsett 6.16.
Those numbers are comparable in total carries and game situations. So why is Jones even playing? And why should he ever be resigned?

As far as the draft goes, while Spiller is an amazing possibility, there is another guy that might be a better complement for Forsett, and he will be cheaper (drafting Spiller would probably require Seattle to use its top pick): Ryan Mathews from Fresno State.
Both first round picks (IMHO) should be dedicated to the O-Line and D-line (in that order). The only exception would be if Eric Berry falls to Seattle (every mock I have seen has him going somewhere between #2 and #5, so doubtful).
The top rated OT is Russell Okung, and he looks to be a good fit, if he falls to Seattle's pick. The top DE is Derrick Morgan, and he looks to be a good fit for Seattle as well. If Denver doesn't make the playoffs (fingers crossed) it's even conceivable that Seattle can draft both of these guys, and maybe get Mathews at the top of the second. If not, I would look for the best safety in the second, and it looks like a number of them might be good possibilties.

Pass plays attempted: 20
Quarterback hurries: 8
Quarterback hits: 8(!)
Quarterback sacks: 1
That's 17 out of 20 plays where Hass didn't really have a chance, and 9 out of 20 where he got clobbered. If a QB is ending up on the turf 45% of the time, there's NO WAY he can play a decent game. Look at any other offense. When the QB drops back, he's got an area about 3 yds on a side where the O line is protecting him, and he can move around. In football parlance, that's called a "pocket". That's the size of a small bedroom for him to move in. Now look at a Hawks pass play. As soon as Hass gets the snap, he's got to watch to be sure he's not stepping on O linemen who are backpedaling furiously. The space around him is about 3 feet square. That's the size of a small shower stall, and to complicate matters further, D linemen are reaching through trying to swat the ball away.
Now, I don't know that Hass ISN'T done, but there's no way to tell when the poor bastard has no room to play football. The few times he's actually had a bit of a pocket, he's done fine, so I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. (although I admit the possibility that the ghastly situation that he's playing may have affected him psychologically, and he's been ruined, a la David Carr, but I'm inclined to doubt it)
Oh, and fyi, the other side of the graphic I mentioned showed the Packers first 20 pass plays...
Pass plays attempted: 20
Quarterback hurries: 2
Quarterback hits: 2
Quarterback sacks: 1
And the Pack doesn't have much of a line, and Rodgers holds the ball too long...
Honestly, how can you blame Hass when he's got to deal with these conditions? (I don't hold the players on the line wholly responsible either.) The system is completely useless, and when you combine that with a slightly above average receiving corps (who don't believe in the system) a below average line (who don't believe in the system) and a group of below average RB's (who don't believe in the system) then the QB (who doesn't believe in the system) is completely screwed. When the QB is screwed, the team is screwed, and they all know it.
Mora keeps harping on "there's no lack of effort here". For that to be the case, one of two OTHER things has to be true: 1)The team has absolutely no talent whatsoever (Housh, Burly, Carlson, Hass, Forsett, Unger, Willis, Locklear (at RT) all have at least decent talent) or 2)the system and/or coaching is completely abysmal.
Which do you believe?
written by S.TTBM, December 29, 2009
I think Tom FLores missed coaching so bad, he abducted Jim Mora and has been coaching in his stead wearing a full-body Halloween Costume Jim Mora rubber body. (Wait, didnt Flores die?! He must have come back from the dead...along with Frankenstein who is impersonating Greg Knapp, who right this minute is in Al Davis' secret underground dungeon....)

you forgot to mention WRs falling down or not battling for the ball.
Other members of the offense are at least partially responsible for about half of Matt's INTs the past couple games. A fact the haters either dismiss outright or conveniently ignore in their zeal to make another 'Beck joke.
written by PADJ, December 29, 2009
For my money this team started down a slippery slope the day it got creative and let Steve Hutchinson slip away to Minnesota. The O-line hasn't been the same since and this year's version is just lame.
Rebuilding has to start in the trenches. It's tempting to want to go get a game breaking WR or RB, or a stud QB. Their effectiveness will be diminished playing behind a substandard line.
Maybe the new GM will point things in a positive direction. Wasn't long ago that the Mariners were laughing stock as well, and that new front office seems to be making moves. It may not be perfect but at least you can look at it and say they're doing SOMETHING! It's all over the media that the Hawks are not giving up and are continuing to fight...and when you find it necessary to put that in the media, that's a glaring statement that your team HAS given up.

Of course Hasselbeck has to try and force things because no one gets open. He can't even drop back three steps before the defense is on him so he has to get rid of the ball faster than intended.
Thank you RUSKELL!
