We haven't heard much yet as far as Curry's status is concerned (and Sully is officially insane for labeling today as a "slow news day"), but there's plenty of other Seahawk rumblings floating around that are worth a look.
Mike Sando has broken down the Seahawks roster and makes predictions as to who will be kept and cut after camp. Most positions appear to be a guessing game, especially wide receiver and defensive linemen. Too much of a good thing is definitely a favorable situation after the depth chart was scraping the barrel last year.
(No idea why this post cut off short, but I left work and found it this way when I looked at the blog at home. Go figure.)
Interestingly, Sando notes this about the defensive back situation:
Key issue -- Lucas' addition, Babineaux's versatility and Wallace's value on special teams could make it tough for some of the others, notably Hobbs and Adams. The Seahawks kept seven defensive backs for the opener last season and eight in each of the previous five openers. Every other NFC West team has kept 10 multiple times during that span.
Hobbs appeared to have gotten torched deep by a Chargers receiver in last weekend's exhibition matchup, but he's been having a pretty strong camp. Jamar Adams has been impressive through and through, and I'd love to see him remain a Seahawk for the next several years. He has limitless potential and hits like a freight train. Just ask Tim Tebow.
In other news, Danny O'Neil says it's not quite time to panic quite yet about the Marcus Trufant and Walter Jones injuries. O'Neil:
Would the Seahawks be better if Trufant and Jones were playing right now? Absolutely. It would make everyone more comfortable.
But the fact that they're not playing right now does not mean that disaster is imminent and neither is going to be able to play this season.
We seem to be forgetting that despite a season that was the embodiment of every sports fan's worst nightmare, we're still only one game into the preseason. Trufant and Jones still have almost a month to get back in it, though the limited amount of information regarding Trufant's back is worrisome.
I won't lie -- it might be time to start wondering what we might do if Trufant can't go when the Rams come to town. Granted, the both St. Louis's QB and WR situation don't merit much worry going into this year, but the Hawks are going to have a rough stretch in the middle of the season (three away games in a row, siz 10 a.m. starts) and they need everyone to be at 100 percent sooner rather than later.
To play devil's advocate for a minute, think about this:
If Jones and Trufant can't go on Week 1, what does everyone see as a viable replacement plan? If you ask me, I'd take Willis over Locklear at left tackle and probably a starting tandem of Ken Lucas/Josh Wilson at cornerback.
