As preseason winds down, most roster spots are spoken for, offenses and defenses begin to really click, and starters finally get a chance to rest before the regular season.

Even for the abysmal-looking Oakland Raiders, who come to Qwest Field Thursday night to face the Seahawks in an exhibition finale.

Raiders coach Tom Cable says his starters will see very limited action. Jim Mora says the same about his starters, with the exception of Aaron Curry, according to Gregg Bell with AP Sports.

Mora said Curry "needs the work," which is a little disconcerting to hear but probably not a big deal in the long term. Curry displayed excellent speed in getting around the edge against the Chiefs, but then again, that was the Chiefs. They're likely headed for another sub-par year.

In other news, defensive line coach spoke with reporters today and emphasized the theme of versatility with his players. He praised his entire line on the fact that they all can provide the versatile means to make this team a threat from every possible angle.

“When you can create position flexibility for yourself you add more opportunities for yourself,” Quinn said. “So sometimes there’s three techniques who can move outside, or D-ends who can move inside.”

Look for players like Michael Bennett and Nick Reed to make their final case for a roster spot tomorrow night, but my gut feeling tells me those guys already have a spot well in place.

I don't know if any of you have seen this, but over at foxsports, they listed 10 trades that need to happen before the season kicks off. He says Branch needs to be traded to the Rams (maybe for a starting caliber DB?) and the Seahawks need to pick up a O-lineman from Green Bay's line:

I gotta agree with the comment on the Oline, and maybe even Concur with the trading of D. Branch. He is overpaid, but I am worried about injuries bringing down Housh or Nate. After all he is a gamer when he is healthy. I dont know who they would trade for or how they would get anything of value. After the last two years, no one will touch him that is not desperate, no matter how much we wish it. I will be staying up late (2300 show time here) And watching the final pre season game. I am proud to say thanks to the NFL network that I have watched all of the Seahawks pre season games this year, and have finally found a reasonably priced bar to watch the Season (yes I have Comcast). I dont know how I feel about Reed making the Cut though. Yes he has alot of heart, but, against a starting line, he has no chance. If we keep him to be a special teams gunner that is one thing, but to expect production from him against a starting line, is asking a little much. I hope I am wrong. I hope that the Seahawks winning in the Pre Season continues into the regular season, and I sincerely pray that the playoffs are not a pipe dream. To all a good night.

Is there a starting caliber DB in STL that could be traded ? A bit doubtful about.
I'm very careful talking about intra-division.
You let go someone who will likely fix one of your opponent needs, who will play two times against you with revenge in mind, but who is still knowing your books better than his own. Double edged-weapon, and after all we'll play STL on week one.
Anyway, I still don't see any valuable player in STL that worth to trade for ...
