[Check the new thread for 2nd Half Coverage]
I'll be updating this thread all night, with the newest articles at the top!
8:18 - Nick Reed put some big time pressure on the QB there, looking great. His mugshot looks like he might be singing to his girlfriend, but hey, that's okay. Babs is looking great today, he's made every tackle he's been near. Curry isn't looking too great tonight, getting manhandled a minute ago. We weren't expecting Curry to look great, but lets see a little more in the second half, AC.
8:12 - Touchdownnnnn Seahawks!!!! Nailed John Owens in the corner of the endzone! Nice catch by that blocking TE.
8:10 - Nice healthy drive by the Hawks, with a couple nifty runs from Forsett and two very nice catches by Courtney Taylor. It's early, but both of those two look like the real deal. Forsett never falls back, he's gained about half his yards after first contact.
8:00 - Holy crap, we just saw Butler's biggest weakness. Made a daring catch for the first down but got absolutely pumelled and dropped it. Punt unit out, another boomer by Ryan down to about the 10. Jordan Kent just made an absolutely fantastic tackle ripping and throwing the runner.
7:55 - Devin Moore takes the Kickoff Return and takes it to about the 33. Best part? Little Devin Moore absolutely smashed into a tight end in coverage sending the Charger's helmet flying. Heh heh heh...[READ MORE]
7:52 - Touchdown Chargers, little run up the gut. Womp wah.
7:48 - Wow, CB depth might be an issue. Hobbs was about 40 feet away from the WR there on about a forty yard catch. The next play though, a little screen to Hester, looked like he was certainly scoring but Will Herring just crushed him and stopped him at the two.
7:47 - Wow, Logan Payne just destroyed the punt returner there, absolutely spearing him (legally). What was most impressive is that he had just been destroyed by his blocker, literally thrown 10 yards. On Defense, Jennings just got clowned. That dude needs to eat a sammich.
7:39 - Hasselbeck went 3-5 for 27 yards, Wallace is in now, we again start from our nowhere... we're at the 6, we've started there, the 3, and the 11. What the honk? Butler just made his first catch as a Hawk, diving forward just short of the first; Duckett got it on 3rd and inches. Incomplete pass that looked like a throwaway followed by an unsuccessful screen to Deon Butler. Aaron Curry needs to shave that doofy looking beard, just saying.
7:34 - Man, Bryant just ripped down Sproles with one arm from full speed to null speed. Bryant just burst through on the second down play and slowed him down, then Tapp finished the tackle. Liking the defense so far, but our blitz packages haven't done much so far. End of the quarter 0 - 0. Big stop on 3rd and 2, but it was really just a poor throw... still, looked like decent covered.
7:30 - The Offensive Line is surprising me so far, looking decent if not good. Sean Phillips got in pretty easily on one play, but that is going to happen. Overall though, I'm impressed by the line and the Hawks have looked pretty good. There was a little miscommunication between arlson and Hass, but hey, no biggie. Another decent punt by Jon Ryan, returned to the 35 or so. The D-Line is now Tapp - Bryant - Terrill - Jackson.
7:23 - Deon Butler receiving his first career punt... except that he doesn't. Great punt, but I like seeing Butler taking the first punt. Okay guys, need a buffalo wing break...
7:21 - LT just almost broke one, Colin Cole just pulled him down after about 6 yards. Nice play by Cole, he's really impressing so far. It looks like SD is trying to keep the plays away from Curry, just throwin that out there.
7:18 - Two first downs on this drive so far, but I think the D-Line has looked strong, with Colin Cole showing he can stop the run, eh? Dude's a beast so far, but he did fall down a minute ago, oops! Mebane just destroyed a run on first down, catching LT's ankle mid stride and forcing him down. LoJack on the edge with Curry sliding in between him and the tackle on a blitz, drop by Gates. Third and ten from the SD 46 - Tapp drops an interception, but Lucas is getting called with Defensive Holding. Boooo!
7:13 - Deep kick by Ryan for a touchback. Not ideal, but boy, that's a lot better than a Plackemeier fudge-kick, eh? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the O-Line looked good there. I'll be going back on Tivo later to pay closer attention to the blocking and such...
7:09 - Julius Jones breaks wide for a 12 yard run off the edge to the strong side. Nice. Late hit for an extra 15 yards, we'll take it. Jones' second run was a bit less impressive, going nowhere. 2nd and 11 - Hass hits Carlson for 10 yards on a little five yard pass. 3rd and 1 to Duckett, definitely didn't get close enough. Favorable spot? Nope.
7:08 - Forsett didn't do much there, but it looked like John Owens screwed up his block. Oh well. OFFENSE!
7:06 - Redding! Not sure if we can count that as a sack, but great coverage in the back and nice job by Redding to get in and force Rivers to scramble. On second down, LT just ran into a wall of Colin Cole and Brandon Mebane. Looked like he could've swung out to the end, but oh well. Third down: 3 - 3 - 5 nickel package with Tapp faking a blitz. Nice hit by Grant to force the drop.
7:05 - Hey, what the hell... where is Holmgren? I'm sure he'll show up soon... Brandon Coutu kicking off and he boots it to the four. Not good enough. Mediocre coverage but Laury gets him at the 30.
7:02 - I think I just sprained my face smiling. It's football time!
7:00 - I missed a lot of the pre-game show... why was Curt Menefee wearing Hawks colors? Also, why is he here? No complaints, I like him, just confused... GO HAWKS!
6:56 - Players to Watch according to the Hawks pre-game -- Max Unger: "He'll probably take every offensive snap," Deon Butler, Justin Forsett, and Aaron Curry. Fun fun! We're four minutes away from kickoff guys! Awesome comments will wind up in this thread, let me know if you see anything special or terrible out there...
