The first day of training camp was, well, not the best. Mike Wahle was cut and subsequently retired. Marcus Trufant did not practice due to a "sore back," that everyone thinks is minor. Every one thought that about Hasselbeck's back last year too. I imagine it's fine, but it is definitely cause for concern. Aaron Curry is not yet a Seahawk despite the second two-hour practice beginning one hour from now; he is now in the minority of first rounders as 17 of the 32 have signed and are ready to play.
It wasn't all bad news though, and Eric Williams has a nice breakdown of what went on. Hasselbeck looked fine by all indications, but perhaps more importantly, Walter Jones looked "his old self" again, though he will be limited in practice (doing individual but not team drills) for the time being. The presumptive starting o-line as of yesterday would be Jones - Sims - Spencer - Wrotto - Locklear.
Mora made it clear that Ray Willis would push Locklear for the starting Right Tackle position, and Lock would slide to RG, but this doesn't make much sense to me as they've also made it clear that Lock is the only starting-caliber LT backup on the team. He can play LT but not RT?
Player of the day: Nate Burleson who apparently was snagging everything near him, beating guys downfield, and generally looking like he didn't have one of the worst football injuries possible less than 12 months ago.
Goat of the day: Ken Lucas. Gulp. Lucas was beat, badly, twice downfield, once by Nate Burleson (non-ideal but acceptable) and once by Courtney "Hey, Quit Throwin' So Hard!" Taylor. He did have some pass defenses too, so it wasn't a total loss, but he needs to be solid. With Trufant out, Wilson was the Right CB while Lucas was in Trufant's spot on the left. You had better believe that Wilson is not about to just give up his battle to win that RCB starting role, so Lucas better step up.
